Unlabelled: This assessment was designed to explore and characterize the airborne particles, especially for the sub-micrometer sizes, in an underground coal mine. Airborne particles present in the breathing zone were evaluated by using both (1) direct reading real-time instruments (RTIs) to measure real-time particle number concentrations in the workplaces and (2) gravimetric samplers to collect airborne particles to obtain mass concentrations and conduct further characterizations. Airborne coal mine particles were collected via three samplers: inhalable particle sampler (37 mm cassette with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) filter), respirable dust cyclone (10 mm nylon cyclone with 37 mm Zefon cassette and PVC filter), and a Tsai diffusion sampler (TDS).

Methods: Liver biopsies from age- and gender-matched obese individuals with (n=20) or without (n=20) T2D were used for microRNA microarray analysis. The candidate microRNA and target genes were validated in 85 human liver samples, and subsequently mechanistically characterized in hepatic cells as well as by dietary interventions and hepatic overexpression in mice.
Sentence comprehension requires the integration of linguistic units presented in a temporal sequence based on a non-linear underlying syntactic structure. While it is uncontroversial that storage is mandatory for this process, there are opposing views regarding the relevance of general short-term-/working-memory capacities (STM/WM) versus language specific resources. Here we report results from 43 participants with an acquired brain lesion in the extended left hemispheric language network and resulting language deficits, who performed a sentence-to-picture matching task and an experimental task assessing phonological short-term memory.

The sample treatment involved a simple, rapid, but effective extraction of Fe from biodiesel into an aqueous phase after microemulsion (ME) breaking. Then, Fe was determined as the complex Fe(III)-PAN (1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol) on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) in the presence of bismuth (Bi(III)).

Machine learning-based anomaly detection (AD) methods are promising tools for extending the coverage of searches for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). One class of AD methods that has received significant attention is resonant anomaly detection, where the BSM physics is assumed to be localized in at least one known variable. While there have been many methods proposed to identify such a BSM signal that make use of simulated or detected data in different ways, there has not yet been a study of the methods' complementarity.

A method based on the accumulation of Ni as Ni(II)-dimethylglyoxime (Ni(II)(HDMG)) on the glassy carbon electrode was carried out in a solution containing the aqueous phase extract (APhEx) obtained from an extraction induced by microemulsion breaking (EIMB), which was achieved by adding a few microliters of ultrapure water to a microemulsion composed of biodiesel, n-propanol and a diluted HNO solution. The LOD and LOQ were 0.

Signal integration by pathogen recognition receptors enables myeloid cells to adapt their functions by a network of transcription factors and chromatin remodelers. This review provides a brief overview of the subtypes of myeloid cells and the main epigenetic regulation mechanisms.

Core-only InAs nanowires (NWs) remain of continuing interest for application in modern optical and electrical devices. In this paper, we utilize the II-VI semiconductor CdSe as a shell for III-V InAs NWs to protect the electron transport channel in the InAs core from surface effects. This unique material configuration offers both a small lattice mismatch between InAs and CdSe and a pronounced electronic confinement in the core with type-I band alignment at the interface between both materials.

However, integrating organoids in standard OoCs faces several technical challenges, as it is typically laborious, lacks flexibility, and often results in even more complex and less-efficient cell culture protocols. Therefore, specifically adapted and more flexible microfluidic platforms need to be developed to facilitate the incorporation of complex 3D in vitro models.

Text messaging is one promising medium for increasing access and sustaining user engagement with DMHIs. This paper examines the Small Steps SMS program, an 8-week, automated, adaptive text message-based intervention for depression and anxiety.

The purpose of this scoping review is to analyze the literature utilizing broadband personality tests in the bariatric surgical population with relation to weight loss outcomes to identify gaps in research and summarize results to guide American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery practices and future research.
Methods: Six databases were searched for broadband personality assessments, bariatric surgery, and weight loss outcomes terms.
This paper outlines lessons learned from tailoring communication campaigns to increase demand for, and reduce stigma toward, evidence-based practices to reduce opioid overdose deaths in 66 communities participating in the HEALing (Helping to End Addiction Long-term) Communities Study (HCS). We present nine lessons gathered about how to engage local communities in both virtual and in-person opioid messaging and distribution between February 2019 and June 2022. The research team created four communication campaigns and did extensive, tailored marketing and promotion to assist communities in implementing evidence-based clinical activities to reduce opioid overdose mortality.

Methods: Livers of 10-week-old female New Zealand Obese (NZO) mice, slightly differing in their degree of hyperglycemia and liver fat content and thereby in their diabetes susceptibility were used for expression and methylation profiling.
Mutations in thyroid hormone receptor α1 (TRα1) cause Resistance to Thyroid Hormone α (RTHα), a disorder characterized by hypothyroidism in TRα1-expressing tissues including the heart. Surprisingly, we report that treatment of RTHα patients with thyroxine to overcome tissue hormone resistance does not elevate their heart rate. Cardiac telemetry in male, TRα1 mutant, mice indicates that such persistent bradycardia is caused by an intrinsic cardiac defect and not due to altered autonomic control.

It has been linked to Alzheimer's disease as well as various other diseases, including mood disorders, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. There is considerable evidence indicating that GSK-3β in the central nervous system plays a role in the production of abnormal, hyperphosphorylated, microtubule-associated tau protein found in neurofibrillary tangles associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Surprisingly, a pharmacology proof of concept study with a previously validated tool compound from the literature failed to show expected response in murine glucose-6-phosphate isomerase-induced arthritis model which was tied to compound plasma exposure unexpectedly 10-fold lower than exposure observed from early pharmacokinetic study confirming adequate exposure prior to proof of concept.

In contrast to previous active compounds 1a-c, a close analog 3h did not show in vivo efficacy in a triple-transgenic mouse Alzheimer's disease model.

While a range of platforms have been successfully implemented demonstrating topological protection of light in the classical domain, the implementation of quantum light sources in photonic devices harnessing topologically nontrivial resonances is largely unexplored. Here, we demonstrate a single photon source based on a single semiconductor quantum dot coupled to a topologically nontrivial Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) cavity mode.
