Background: Clinical severity and progression of lung disease in cystic fibrosis (CF) are significantly influenced by the degree of lung inflammation. Non-invasive quantitative diagnostic tools are desirable to differentiate structural and inflammatory lung changes in order to help prevent chronic airway disease. This might also be helpful for the evaluation of longitudinal effects of novel therapeutics.

Whole-Body MRI in Children: Concepts and Controversies- Expert Panel Narrative Review.

The use of whole-body MRI (WBMRI) in children, from infancy to adolescence, has expanded rapidly over the past decade, with increasing uptake and a broadening range of clinical indications. Current indications include screening for presymptomatic lesions in cancer predisposition syndromes; tumor staging in known malignancies; investigating fevers of unknown origin; as well as diagnosing and monitoring rheumatologic diseases, vascular anomalies and neuromuscular disorders. Development of flip-chip technology for the optical drive of superconducting circuits.

We discuss the flip-chip mounting process of photodiodes and fiber sleeves on silicon substrates to meet the increasing demand for fabrication of highly integrated and hybrid quantum circuits for operation at cryogenic temperatures. To further increase the yield and success rate of the flip-chip procedure, the size of the gold stud bumps, and flip-chip parameters were optimized. Moreover, to connect optical fibers to the photodiodes in an optimal position, the fiber sleeves were aligned with specially fabricated alignment circles before applying thermocompression with the flip-chip machine.

Subjective Socioeconomic Status Moderates How Resting Heart Rate Variability Predicts Pain Response.

Unlabelled: Higher resting heart rate variability (HRV)-an index of more flexible response to environmental stressors, including noxious stimuli-has been linked to reduced perception of experimentally induced pain. However, as stress responses are adapted to one's chronic environments, we propose that chronic exposure to threats captured by one's subjective socioeconomic status (SSS) may shape different adaptations that produce distinct pain responses linked to higher resting HRV. Specifically, lower SSS individuals with more threat exposures may prioritize threat detection by upregulating sensitivity to stressors, such as acute pain.
