The paucity of targeted therapies for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) causes patients with this aggressive disease to suffer a poor clinical prognosis. A promising target for therapeutic intervention is the Wnt signaling pathway, which is activated in TNBC cells when extracellular Wnt ligands bind overexpressed Frizzled7 (FZD7) transmembrane receptors. This stabilizes intracellular β-catenin proteins that in turn promote transcription of oncogenes that drive tumor growth and metastasis.

Many conventional treatments for solid-tumor cancers lack tumor specificity, which results in low efficacy and off-target damage to healthy tissues. Nanoparticle (NP)-mediated photothermal therapy (PTT) is a promising minimally invasive treatment for solid-tumor cancers that has entered clinical trials.

The reaction of ascorbate with singlet oxygen is rapid (k = 3 x 10(8) M(-1) s(-1)). Here we have investigated the stoichiometry of this reaction.

The mean lifespan of male flies receiving 200 mg/liter carnosine approached that of females. At the same time carnosine had no effect on the lifespan of female flies.

These metabolic disturbances were accompanied by moderate neurological disorders. Changes in carnosine metabolism in family members were less pronounced and not accompanied by neuropathological symptoms.

In the brain of SAMP1 animals the activity of cytosolic Cu/Zn-containing superoxide dismutase (SOD) was reduced, while the activity of membrane-bound Mn-SOD was at an extremely low level. The activity of glutathione-dependent enzymes (glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, and glutathione transferase) did not differ in the brain of SAMP1 and SAMR1 animals, and catalase activity was similarly low in both cases.

Partially purified enzyme was obtained from chicken muscle, showing its activity of 60 nmoles carnosine/mg per min. The levels of carnosine synthesized was measured by three different methods: column chromatography on Dowen 50 x 8 resin, and thin-layer chromatography on Fixion or Silufol plates.

By means of angiography, made in 20 patients with rigidity of the first toes due to osteoarthrosis, there have been revealed chronic deficiency of blood circulation in the foot tissues, especially in its antero-internal section. Blood circulation deficiency is due either to the congenital anomaly of the foot vessels or to the consequences of their traumatic injuries. Blood supply deficiency results in degenerative-dystrophic changes of the first metatarsophalangeal articulations with development of their rigidity, aggravated by post-ischemic contracture of the foot muscles.

Group infection with trichinellosis occurred by eating of insufficiently treated meat of a brown bear which confirms the existence of a natural focus of trichinellosis in the Krasnoyarsky kray.

The main morphological lesions were found in the cross-striated muscles and myocardium. They were characterized by deep degeneration, necrosis, and atrophy of muscle fibers, multiplication of sarcolemma nuclei, massive lymphoplasmo-histiocytis infiltration of the interstitial tissue, active resorbtion by macrophages of the dead muscle cells, the occurrence of giant cells.
