Retrospective studies suggest that local radiotherapy on the prostate improves overall survival in the metastatic setting, but its benefit in patients with high-burden metastatic disease is still uncertain. We conducted a retrospective study of 100 high-metastatic-burden prostate cancer patients at Hadassah Ein Karem Medical Center from 2004 to 2021. Patients receiving local RT alongside standard treatment were compared to those receiving standard treatment alone.

There is limited literature investigating how these fractures should be specifically treated. Generally, good results are reported when open fractures are treated with debridement and antibiotics.

However, the specific subset of patients with polymetastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) on novel systemic therapies who develop induced oligopersistant disease (OpersisD) or oligoprogressive disease (OprogD), as defined by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) OMD classification, has not been well described. This study explores the outcomes of patients treated with this strategy.

It focuses on local control (LC), distant tumor control (DTC), and overall survival (OS).
Methods: The analysis comprised 18 individuals with gynecological-origin BM treated with SRS at the Hadassah Medical Center from 2004 to 2021.

Proximal fifth metatarsal fractures are the most common foot fractures in children. Attempts to classify these injuries are misapplied and inadequately predict outcomes. This is the first study to identify factors associated with healing in pediatric fifth metatarsal fractures.

Background: Trisomy 21 or Down syndrome is associated with multiple orthopaedic manifestations. Although cervical instability is the most common spinal condition associated with Down syndrome, the prevalence of scoliosis has been estimated at 4.8% to 8.

Recent heavy media coverage on the opioid prescription epidemic has garnered increased attention from prescribers and policymakers. The purpose of this study was to analyze trends in opioid prescribing for nonoperatively managed pediatric fractures and dislocations in order to examine changes in opioid-prescribing patterns across various U.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility for PS placement in these patients using pedicle chord length, diameter, and channel morphology.
Methods: In this retrospective study, 56 consecutive AIS patients with Lenke II or IV curves who underwent instrumented posterior spinal fusion (PSF) were studied.
Background: Posterior spinal fusion (PSF) has proven to be a safe, reliable technique to treat spinal deformities in adolescents. In recent early reports, vertebral body tethering (VBT) is showing promise as a method to modulate growth, driving scoliosis correction, while offering the potential added benefit of maintaining some flexibility in the instrumented segment. With recent FDA humanitarian device exemption (HDE) approval, VBT is poised to become more widely available as a treatment for a subset of current PSF candidates.

Methods: Patients <1 years old with appendicular fractures treated from 2012 to 2016 at a quaternary-level NICU were identified. Bivariate testing compared fractures, work-up and management based on designated mechanism (presumed birth-related vs unknown).
The neural mechanisms underlying time perception are of vital importance to a comprehensive understanding of behavior and cognition. Recent work has suggested a supramodal role for beta oscillations in measuring temporal intervals. However, the precise function of beta oscillations and whether their manipulation alters timing has yet to be determined.

This case history describes a 26-year-old male with gingival bleeding who presented for care and was treated accordingly. Within a week he developed signs and symptoms of systemic disease and upon further investigation, he was diagnosed with acute monocytic leukemia to which he succumbed within 72 hours. The implications of gingival bleeding are discussed, and the necessity to consider systemic disease in the differential diagnosis is emphasized.

Several components of the renin-angiotensin system have been demonstrated in different tissues. Whereas the roles of tissue and renal renin-angiotensin system have been studied in detail, much less is known on whether the corpuscular elements of circulating blood contribute to Ang II production.

Two cases of "scalded mouth syndrome" are presented and discussed. This condition is a rare side effect of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors. Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors are known to cause several other oral and extra-oral side effects.

Forty adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into two equal groups, control (Group 1) and experimental (Group 2). Group 2 received 100 mg of dl-alpha-tocopherol acetate (vitamin E) twice weekly by the oral route. After 2 weeks the animals in both groups were subjected to pulp exposures that were capped with zinc oxide and eugenol and to pulp exposures that were left open.

Thirty-six 56-day-old male Sprague-Dawley albino rats served as two groups of experimental animals. Group 1 was irradiated with 400 rads delivered as total-body radiation from a cesium source. Group 2 served as the control group and was not irradiated.
