Background: To assess the integrity of the developing nervous system, the Prechtl general movement assessment (GMA) is recognized for its clinical value in diagnosing neurological impairments in early infancy. GMA has been increasingly augmented through machine learning approaches intending to scale-up its application, circumvent costs in the training of human assessors and further standardize classification of spontaneous motor patterns. Available deep learning tools, all of which are based on single sensor modalities, are however still considerably inferior to that of well-trained human assessors.

This novel piezoresistive transduction principle makes Cr-doped VO thin film an appealing piezoresistive material. To investigate the piezoresistivity of Cr-doped VO thin film for implementation in MEMS sensor applications, the resistance change of differently orientated Cr-doped VO thin film piezoresistors with external strain change was measured.

However, understanding these immune heterogeneities and their links to various clinical complications, especially long COVID, remains a challenge. In this study, we performed unsupervised subtyping of longitudinal multi-omics immunophenotyping in over 1,000 hospitalized patients, identifying two critical subtypes linked to mortality or mechanical ventilation with prolonged hospital stay and three severe subtypes associated with timely acute recovery.

It facilitates pest distribution assessment, control measure evaluation, and prediction of pest outbreaks. Additionally, it provides important information on bioindicators with which the state of biodiversity and ecological integrity in specific habitats and ecosystems can be accurately assessed.

Surfactant protein A (SP-A) plays a critical role in regulating pulmonary innate immunity by binding to numerous respiratory pathogens. Mature SP-A consists of multiple isoforms that form the hetero-oligomers of SP-A1 and SP-A2, organized in 18-mers.

Objective: To investigate a process whereby leptin, an adipokine elevated in obesity, potentiates pulmonary eosinophilia and eotaxin production by airway fibroblasts in T2 asthma.
Methods: We assessed associations between body mass index and airway eosinophilia as well as leptin and eotaxin production in 78 participants with asthma, 36 of whom exhibited obesity.
Large language models (LLMs) can optimize clinical workflows; however, the economic and computational challenges of their utilization at the health system scale are underexplored. We evaluated how concatenating queries with multiple clinical notes and tasks simultaneously affects model performance under increasing computational loads. We assessed ten LLMs of different capacities and sizes utilizing real-world patient data.

The open reading frame (ORF) 3a of the coronavirus genome encodes for a transmembrane protein that can function as an ion channel. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of the SARS-CoV-2 ORF 3a protein in COVID-19-associated arrhythmias and its potential as a pharmacological target.

We identified and replicated qCT clusters of severe asthma in two independent asthma cohorts and determined their association with molecular pathways, using radiomultiomics, integrating qCT, multiomics and machine learning/artificial intelligence.
Methods: We used consensus clustering on qCT measurements of airway and lung CT scans, performed in 105 severe asthmatic adults from the U-BIOPRED cohort.

This paper reports a 30×12 row-column (RC) addressed flexible piezoelectric micromachined ultrasound transducer (PMUT) array with a top-down fabrication process. The fabrication uses a temporary carrier wafer from which the array device is released by deep reactive ion etching (DRIE). About 0.

Use of automated analyzers in the clinical laboratory can improve patient care by not only reducing the turn-around-time (TAT) of results but also improving accuracy of the reported results by reducing human error. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance characteristics of a new automated laboratory instrument, the Atellica® CI Analyzer, Model 1900, over a 3-month period in a European laboratory setting.

In this article, a noninvasive blood glucose detection device through acetone sensing in EB, based on an α-FeO-multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposite, was successfully developed. Different amounts of α-FeO were added to the MWCNTs by a simple solution method.

We find a cuboctahedral platinum cage with bridge bound hydrogen atoms. This unusual structure is stabilized by Pt-H-Pt multicenter bonds and shows characteristics of spherical aromaticity.

Surfactant Protein A (SP-A) is an innate immune modulator produced by the lung with known protective effects against bacteria and viruses. Its role in asthma, an inflammatory lung disease that affects 10% of the world's population, is not entirely known. In this review, we demonstrate that SP-A confers protection against exposure to interleukin-13, a type 2 cytokine integral to eosinophilic asthma, in a mouse model of SP-A deficiency, a house dust mite model of asthma, and in human bronchial epithelial cells from participants with asthma.

Beginning with this issue, manuscripts returned to authors with a "revise and resubmit" decision must be resubmitted within two months of the editorial decision. Likewise, manuscripts returned to authors with a "revisions required" decision must be resubmitted within one month of the editorial decision.

In this work, a transition metal sulfide in combination with lithium disulfide is employed as a dual cation-anion redox conversion composite cathode system. The transition metal sulfide undergoes cation redox, enhancing the electronic conductivity, whereas the lithium disulfide undergoes anion redox, enabling high-voltage redox conducive to achieving high energy densities.
