Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are important targets for cannabidiol (CBD), which mediate many of its biological actions. The hypothesis of the present research assumed that PPARs affect the gut response to different challenge factors in chickens ( vs. lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from ), and that CBD can mediate the pathways of this response.

The objective of this study was primarily to assess the different performance impacts of two ionophore coccidiostats (narasin and salinomycin) used to manage coccidiosis. While both products may be efficacious in controlling disease challenges, previous literature has suggested that some ionophores are less well tolerated by the broiler chickens. In this study, we were particularly interested to know how the use of different coccidiostat programs translates into broiler health and performance, as measured by zootechnical parameters such as the feed conversion ratio, average daily gain, and final body weight.

Breast cancer cryoablation clinical trials have strict inclusion criteria that exclude patients with potentially treatable disease. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and outcomes of breast cancer cryoablation without surgical excision in patients ineligible for prospective cryoablation clinical trials due to unfavorable patient or tumor characteristics. This retrospective study included women who underwent cryoablation of biopsy-proven unifocal primary breast cancer with locally curative intent, without surgical excision, despite being ineligible for (and thus excluded from) cryoablation clinical trials, across seven institutions between January 1, 2000, and August 26, 2021.

Introduction: The physical modification of cartilage grafts during rhinoplasty risks chondrocyte death at the margins where the tissue is cut. This study compares chondrocyte viability between diced, scaled, and pate samples in human models, and further computes percent chondrocyte viability as a function of sequential dicing size in a computational model.

Methods: Septal cartilage from 11 individuals was prepared as follows: diced (1 mm cubic), scaled (shaved to <1 mm thickness ~ translucent), pate (0.

There is a clinical need for F-labeled somatostatin analogs for the imaging of neuroendocrine tumors (NET), given the limitations of using [Ga]Ga-DOTA-peptides, particularly with regard to widespread accessibility. We have shown that [F]fluoroethyl-triazole-[Tyr]-octreotate ([F]FET-βAG-TOCA) has favorable dosimetry and biodistribution. As a step toward clinical implementation, we conducted a prospective, noninferiority study of [F]FET-βAG-TOCA PET/CT compared with [Ga]Ga-DOTA- peptide PET/CT in patients with NET.

Malignant transformation is characterised by aberrant phospholipid metabolism of cancers, associated with the upregulation of choline kinase alpha (CHKα). Due to the metabolic instability of choline radiotracers and the increasing use of late-imaging protocols, we developed a more stable choline radiotracer, [F]fluoromethyl-[1,2-H]choline ([F]D4-FCH). [F]D4-FCH has improved protection against choline oxidase, the key choline catabolic enzyme, via a H/D isotope effect, together with fluorine substitution.

The development of new bioadhesives with integrated properties remains an unmet clinical need to replace staples or sutures. Current bioadhesives do not allow electronic activation, which would allow expansion into laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. To address this deficiency, voltage-activated adhesives have been developed on both carbene- and catechol-based chemical precursors.

In this paper, we provide new proofs of the existence and the condensation of Bethe roots for the Bethe Ansatz equation associated with the six-vertex model with periodic boundary conditions and an arbitrary density of up arrows (per line) in the regime . As an application, we provide a short, fully rigorous computation of the free energy of the six-vertex model on the torus, as well as an asymptotic expansion of the six-vertex partition functions when the density of up arrows approaches 1/2. This latter result is at the base of a number of recent results, in particular the rigorous proof of continuity/discontinuity of the phase transition of the random-cluster model, the localization/delocalization behaviour of the six-vertex height function when and , and the rotational invariance of the six-vertex model and the Fortuin-Kasteleyn percolation.
