Aggregation pathway of amyloid-β (25-35) in water affects the oxidative stress in the brain observed after administration of aggregated peptide in animals in vivo. Our studies on peptide aggregation ex situ prior to injection suggest that from the onset of peptide incubation in aqueous media, all samples exhibit the formation of fibril-like aggregates, characterized by a significant amount of β-sheets. This induces significant oxidative stress in vivo as observed for up to 60 min of peptide aggregation time.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, behavioural scientists aimed to illuminate reasons why people comply with (or not) large-scale cooperative activities. Background And Objectives: We investigated the trajectories of anxiety, general anxiety and more specifically COVID-19 anxiety in the period of school closure in Slovenia using a longitudinal design with three time points: at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the school year.

Design And Methods: We have used data from a representative adolescent sample for Slovenia ( = 1233) and two anxiety scales: the LAOM Anxiety Scale and the COVID-19 Anxiety Scale. The findings from latent growth curve models show a significant difference in initial levels and a decrease in both types of anxiety as well as an interaction effect between the initial level and the rate of change of COVID-19 anxiety.

Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS) is a widely used measure that captures somatic symptoms of coronavirus-related anxiety. In a large-scale collaboration spanning 60 countries ( = 21,513), we examined the CAS's measurement invariance and assessed the convergent validity of CAS scores in relation to the fear of COVID-19 (FCV-19S) and the satisfaction with life (SWLS-3) scales. We utilized both conventional exact invariance tests and alignment procedures, with results revealing that the single-factor model fit the data well in almost all countries.

Joubert syndrome (JS) is a recessive disorder that is characterized by midbrain-hindbrain malformation and shows the "molar tooth sign" on magnetic resonance imaging. Mutations in 40 genes, including Abelson helper integration site 1 (), inositol polyphosphate-5-phosphatase (), coiled-coil and c2 domain-containing protein 2A (), and ARL2-like protein 1 (), can cause JS. In addition to COVID-19 being a health threat, its longevity and restrictions act as significant stressors and risk for mental health. In the current study, we take a look at how psychological response, both its positive aspects, for example, mental well-being and life satisfaction, and its negative aspects, for example, anxiety and COVID-19 anxiety, have changed as the pandemic has continued (first three waves in Slovenia). Additionally, we are interested in whether the psychological response is associated with the perception of stress level in waves 2 and 3 as less, equally or more stressful when compared to the stress level in wave 1 and what shapes these perceptions.

The present study adopts The Developmental Assets and Positive Youth Development (PYD) perspectives which (in contrast to the deficit-based approaches which highlight risks and deficit in youth development) claim that young people have potencies to achieve optimal development if supported by their social environment. Extant research indicates that developmental assets are linked with a variety of thriving indicators. The present research aimed to contribute to the PYD research by examining the external developmental assets (support, empowerment, and boundaries and expectations) emerging adults ( = 2055; age range = 18-28) perceived in their social environment and the level of their positive identity in four countries (Norway, Romania, Slovenia and Turkey), which have different rankings in economic, human, and youth development indices.

Several of the most frequent psychological difficulties in childhood and adolescence are related to anxiety and lead to numerous short- and long-term negative outcomes in emotional, social, and academic domains. Empirical evidence consistently shows that the 5Cs (competence, caring, confidence, connection, and character) of Positive Youth Development (PYD) are positively related to adolescents' contribution to self, family, and society as well as negatively related to risky behaviors and emotional difficulties, such as anxiety. Background: Epilepsy with intellectual disability limited to females (Epileptic encephalopathy, early infantile, 9; EIEE9) is a rare early infantile epileptic encephalopathy characterized by an unusual X-linked inheritance: females with heterozygous mutations are affected, while hemizygous males are not.

Case Presentation: We describe the clinical and molecular characteristics of 2 Russian patients with EIEE9 (females, ages 3 years and 7 years). In these patients seizures developed at the age of 3 years.
