Human Leucocyte Antigen (HLA) testing is useful in the clinical work-up of coeliac disease (CD) with high negative but low positive predictive value. We construct a genomic risk score (GRS) using HLA risk genotypes to improve CD prediction and guide exclusion criteria. Imputed HLA genotypes for five European CD case-control GWAS (n > 15,000) were used to construct and validate an interpretable HLA-based risk model (HDQ), which shows statistically significant improvements in predictive performance upon all previous HLA-based risk models.

We experimentally realize a method to produce nonequilibrium Bose-Einstein condensates with condensed fraction exceeding those of equilibrium samples with the same parameters. To do this, we immerse an ultracold Bose gas of ^{87}Rb in a cloud of ^{39}K with substantially higher temperatures, providing a controlled source of dissipation. By combining the action of the dissipative environment with evaporative cooling, we are able to progressively distil the nonequilibrium Bose-Einstein condensate from the thermal cloud.

MCM-22, MCM-36, and ITQ-2 zeolites with the intended Si/Al molar ratios of 15, 25, and 50 were synthetized and tested as catalysts for dehydration of methanol to dimethyl ether and dehydration of ethanol to diethyl ether and ethylene. The surface concentration of acid sites was regulated by the synthesis of zeolite precursors with different aluminum content in the zeolite framework, while the influence of porous structure on the overall efficiency of alcohol conversion was analyzed by application of zeolitic materials with different types of porosity-microporous MCM-22 as well as microporous-mesoporous MCM-36 and ITQ-2. The conjugation of organometallic groups to current β-lactam antibiotics is a field of increasing study due to the ability of certain organometallic groups to enhance the antibiotic potency of these drugs. Herein, we report the antibacterial properties of two metallocenyl (ferrocenyl and ruthenocenyl) 7-aminocephalosporanic acid (7-ACA) antibiotic conjugates. Samples of TiO (P25) doped with zinc, tin, and vanadium, thermally treated at 550 °C for 6 h, were tested as catalysts and photocatalysts for the oxidation of diphenyl sulphide to diphenyl sulfoxide and sulfone, using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidation agent. Thermal treatment of pure TiO and its vanadium-doped forms resulted in a decrease of anatase and an increase of rutile content. The opposite effect was observed for TiO doped with zinc or tin, where thermal treatment resulted in the rutile to anatase phase transition.
