Emphysematous pyelonephritis and emphysematous cystitis are intractable diseases. Eight cases of bilateral emphysematous pyelonephritis and emphysematous cystitis have been reported, but no treatment has been established. An 88-year-old female was admitted with traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage, and on the fourth day of hospitalization, she developed fever and septic shock.

However, 20% of patients develop primary resistant disease (PRD) to NIVO+IPI and show poor survival outcomes. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of PRD as a second-line treatment in patients with mRCC.

Methods: J-DART2 was a multicenter, noninterventional, retrospective study examining clinical data from patients with curatively unresectable locally advanced or metastatic RCC who started treatment with first-line avelumab + axitinib in Japan between December 2019 and October 2022.
Purpose: To investigate the visual prognosis of ocular surface squamous neoplasia (OSSN) after tumor resection and ocular surface reconstruction, and clarify factors that influence recurrence.
Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Methods: Medical records of all patients who underwent surgical treatment for OSSN at our hospital between January 1996 and December 2019 were reviewed.
Objectives: Desmopressin improves nocturia frequency; however, reports on its long-term efficacy and safety are few, and concerns regarding its effect on body composition exist. We thus investigated the efficacy and safety of long-term desmopressin administration and its effect on body composition.
Methods: This retrospective study, conducted at Chikugo City Hospital between August 2020 and December 2022, involved 133 men (mean age, 77.
Background/aim: Hypertension occurs frequently in patients taking pazopanib. Therefore, this study aimed to clarify the predictive factors for pazopanib-induced hypertension.
Patients And Methods: In total, 47 patients who started pazopanib treatment for renal cell carcinoma or soft tissue sarcoma during hospitalization at Kurume University Hospital from November 2012 to February 2020 were included in the study.
Introduction: The seeds used in brachytherapy for prostate cancer may migrate through the surrounding venous plexus to other sites in the body, most commonly to the pulmonary vasculature.
Case Presentation: A 78-year-old Japanese man received iodine-125 low-dose-rate prostate brachytherapy. Computed tomography revealed that one seed had migrated to the right kidney.
Immuno-oncology (IO) combination therapy is the first-line treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC). However, biomarkers for predicting the response to IO combination therapy are lacking. Here, we investigated the association between the expression of soluble immune checkpoint molecules and the therapeutic efficacy of IO combination therapy in advanced RCC.

In this study, three-dimensional ultrastructural analysis of mouse prostatic NECs was performed to clarify their anatomical characteristics.
Methods: Three 13-week-old male C57BL/6 mice were deeply anesthetized, perfused with physiological saline and 2% paraformaldehyde, and then placed in 2.
Immuno-oncology (IO) combination therapy is utilized as a first-line systemic treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma. However, evidence supporting the use of cabozantinib after IO combination therapy is lacking. We retrospectively analyzed patients who received second-line cabozantinib after IO combination therapy using the Japanese Urological Oncology Group (JUOG) database.

Herein, we investigated the effects of desmopressin on sleep and patient quality of life. We defined cases in which administration of desmopressin led to hours of undisturbed sleep (HUS) ≥3 hours as "marked response cases" and examined predictive factors of desmopressin treatment response.

Therefore, the present study investigated the efficacy and toxicity of axitinib in patients with chronic kidney disease.
Methods: Post-hoc analyses were performed on a Japanese multicenter cohort study of 477 mRCC patients who received axitinib followed by 1 or 2 regimens of systemic antiangiogenic therapy between January 2012 and December 2016.
This study aimed to clarify the three-dimensional ultrastructure of head-side mice spermatozoa mitochondria. Six 13-week-old male C57BL/6 mice were deeply anesthetized, perfused with 2% paraformaldehyde, and placed in 2.5% glutaraldehyde in 0.

Case Presentation: A 71-year-old Japanese man was diagnosed with localized high-risk prostate cancer. Trimodality therapy with I-125 brachytherapy was selected, and combined androgen blockade therapy was initiated.
Background/aim: Sarcopenia is a syndrome characterized by the progressive and generalized loss of skeletal muscle mass and has been reported to be a poor prognostic factor for taxane-treated castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). However, whether sarcopenia affects androgen receptor axis-targeted therapies (ARATs) remains unknown. In the present study, we investigated the association between sarcopenia in CRPC and treatment outcomes of ARATs.

Absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) is a valuable prognostic factor in patients with various cancers treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors. Herein, we determined the prognostic value of pretreatment ALC in advanced RCC patients treated with NIVO + IPI as first-line therapy.

Methods: Eighty patients (mean age: 78.
Objectives: To evaluate the effects of sarcopenia and excess visceral fat accumulation on early urinary function after I-125 low-dose-rate brachytherapy for prostate cancer.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed consecutive patients who underwent brachytherapy for prostate cancer. Pre-treatment computed tomography was used to measure skeletal muscle index at the L3 level to assess sarcopenia and visceral fat area at the umbilical level.
Background/aim: Immuno-oncology (IO) combination therapy has become the standard of treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC). In this retrospective study, we compared the efficacy of first-line molecular targeted therapy (MTT), administered as monotherapy, and IO combination therapy using real-world data of Japanese patients.
Patients And Methods: The clinical information of 202 patients with RCC who received MTT (n=144) or IO combination therapy (n=58) at the Kurume University Hospital from May 2008 to May 2022 was collected and retrospectively analyzed.
is a protein-coding gene, belonging to the FXYD protein family associated with Na+/K+-ATPase enzymes and chloride ion channels. Accumulating evidence suggests the biological role of in multiple cancers. However, the prognostic value of expression in clear renal cell carcinoma (KIRC) is unclear.
