The knowledge of viscosity behavior, crystal growth phenomenon, and diffusion is important in producing, processing, and practical applications of amorphous solids prepared in different forms (bulk glasses and thin films). This work uses microscopy to study volume crystal growth in GeSe bulk glasses and thermally evaporated thin films. The collected growth data measured over a wide temperature range show a significant increase in crystal growth rates in thin films.

Objectives: The impact of a change in hemodynamics on cognitive skills in patients with asymptomatic carotid stenosis (ACS) after carotid endarterectomy (CEA) remains unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of CEA for ACS at 1 year by assessing the changes in anterior, middle, and posterior cerebral artery blood flow in tandem with changes in cognitive efficiency.
Methods: Flow volume in cerebral arteries using quantitative magnetic resonance angiography was measured in a group of 14 males and 5 females before and at 1 year after CEA for ACS.
Mass spectra of (GeS)(SbS) glass and Ag-doped glasses [5% Ag (GeS)(SbS) and 15% Ag (GeS)(SbS)] obtained using laser desorption ionization (LDI) time-of-flight coupled with quadrupole ion trap mass spectrometry were studied. The analysis of the mass spectra indicated the formation of Ag Ge Sb S clusters. In addition to the SbS ( = 1 and 2), SbS ( = 1-3), SbS ( = 1-5), SbS ( = 3 and 4), SbS , and Sb ( = 3 and 5) clusters, various clusters containing Ag, such as Ag ( = 1 and 2), AgGeS, AgSb ( = 1, 2, and 4), AgSbS, AgSbS ( = 1-5), AgSbS , AgSbS , AgSbS ( = 4 and 5), AgSbS , and AgSbS , were generated.

This study aims to assess correlations of blood flow volume measurements in cervical and intracranial arteries between duplex sonography and quantitative magnetic resonance angiography (qMRA).
Materials And Methods: Consecutive patients with suspicion of cerebral vascular pathology underwent qMRA and duplex sonography of cervical and intracranial arteries with measurement of blood flow volume in bilateral common (CCA), internal (ICA) and external carotid arteries, vertebral and basilar arteries, middle, anterior, posterior cerebral and posterior communicating arteries using 2 different ultrasound machines.
This video shows an urgent microsurgical embolectomy of the inferior division of the left middle cerebral artery in a patient treated by intravenous thrombolysis (IVT). Patient was eligible for endovascular mechanical thrombectomy1; however, the interventional radiologist was not comfortable performing the procedure given prior unsuccessful attempts to remove a calcified cerebral embolus.2 A 75-yr-old female presented with an acute ischemic stroke with isolated aphasia (NIHSS 9).

The studied temperature region was 255-346 °C and 254-286 °C for bulk glass and thin film, respectively. The compact crystalline layer growing from the surface into the amorphous core was formed in bulk glasses and no bulk crystallization was observed.

The crystals formed a compact layer on the surface of the sample and then continued to grow from the surface to the central part of the sample. The formed crystalline layer grew linearly with time, which suggests that the crystal growth is controlled by liquid-crystal interface kinetics.

This paper describes a novel quartz crystal sensor for measurement of the density-viscosity product of Newtonian liquids. The sensor element consists of two piano-convex AT-cut quartz crystals vibrating in a thickness-shear mode with the liquid sample in between. This special set-up allows suppression of disturbing resonances in the liquid layer.
