Background: The participative design of work processes is hampered by as-yet unresolved challenges. A root cause is seen in high information-pass-on-barriers. Virtual Reality (VR) may have a significant potential to overcome these challenges.

Article Synopsis
  • Advances in chemical protein synthesis now allow for the creation of custom proteins with various modifications, leading to better control over posttranslational modifications (PTMs).
  • Expressed protein ligation (EPL) is utilized to incorporate specific amino acid analogs and mutations in PDZ (postsynaptic density) protein domains, facilitating the study of their protein-protein interactions (PPIs).
  • The text provides protocols for performing EPL on PDZ domains, specifically highlighting modifications related to phosphorylation and amide-to-ester changes.

Introduction: A disturbed sense of self is frequently discussed as an etiological factor for delusion symptoms in psychosis. Phenomenological approaches to psychopathology posit that lacking the sense that the self is localized within one's bodily boundaries (disembodiment) is one of the core features of the disturbed self in psychosis. The present study examines this idea by experimentally manipulating the sense of bodily boundaries.

Background: This study addresses the question of whether psychosocial functioning measured by the Personal and Social Performance (PSP) Scale is related to various psychopathological measures in a cohort of patients with schizophrenia.

Methods: The 'Neuroleptic Strategy Study' (NeSSy) performed at 14 German hospitals between 2010 and 2013 compared two treatment strategies instead of individual drugs. Secondary end-points were the two PSP scales as well as measures of quality of life (SF-36) and the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS).

Article Synopsis
  • Impairments in facial emotion recognition are linked to challenges in emotion regulation and interpersonal difficulties in individuals with mental disorders, particularly in those with eating disorders (EDs).
  • A study involving 308 adult women assessed how well different groups (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, healthy controls, and mixed mental disorders) could recognize basic facial emotions using a computerized task that measured their recognition thresholds.
  • Results showed that all groups recognized happiness and fear similarly, with only some differences in recognizing disgust, indicating that while basic recognition abilities are intact, issues like misinterpretation may affect emotional regulation in those with EDs.

Objective: Ullrich-Turner Syndrome (UTS; Turner Syndrome (TS)) is a X-chromosomal disorder, which is characterized by a variety and heterogenous clinical conditions. Although it is not typically associated with neuropsychiatric disorders, several case reports describe concomitant TS and neuropsychiatric abnormalities that may represent a pathogenetic link.

Methods: Based on the case representation of woman with TS and co-occurrent schizoaffective disorder we discuss possible relationships and current literature.

A disintegrin and metalloproteinase 9 (ADAM9) possesses potent metastasis-inducing capacities and is highly expressed in several cancer cells. Previous work has shown that ADAM9 participates in the adhesive-invasive phenotype in lung cancer cells in vitro. In this study, we evaluated whether ADAM9 expression plays a critical role in metastatic processes in vivo and in angiogenesis.

The clinical syndromes characterized by an abnormally long Q-T interval in the ECG are classified at present as acquired (rate-dependent), congenital (adrenergic-dependent), and miscellaneous. The therapy of each differs depending on the cause, the principal of which are drugs (for the acquired form), excessive sympathetic activity (for the congenital form), and a variety of causes for the miscellaneous group. The long Q-T interval, ascribable in some cases to pathologic disparity of durations of the excited state, aggravated under certain conditions by increased sympathetic activity transmitted through the stellate ganglia and sympathetic cardiac nerves, are at present the most probable electrical sources of arrhythmogenesis in the LQTS.
