Article Synopsis
  • Investigated the phase formation of complex pyrochlores (BiMg(Zn)NiTaO) during solid-phase synthesis, finding that α-BiTaO serves as a precursor, with significant reactions occurring above 850-900 °C.
  • Analyzed the effect of magnesium and zinc on synthesis, determining reaction temperatures of 800 °C for magnesium and 750 °C for nickel, alongside changes in the unit cell parameters with temperature variations.
  • Found that nickel-magnesium pyrochlores have a porous microstructure with 20% porosity while nickel-zinc variants are dense with under 10% porosity, with optimal conditions for pure phase production established at 1050 °C for 15 hours.

The results of the research of a composite based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) decorated with CuO/CuO/Cu nanoparticles deposited by the cupric formate pyrolysis are discussed. The study used a complementary set of methods, including scanning and transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, Raman, and ultrasoft X-ray spectroscopy. The investigation results show the good adhesion between the copper nanoparticles coating and the MWCNT surface through the oxygen atom bridge formation between the carbon atoms of the MWCNT outer graphene layer and the oxygen atoms of CuO and CuO oxides.

Data on morphology of the kidneys in hemorrhagic fever with the renal syndrome (HFRS) are discussed. In the kidneys of 10 decreased patients (with time period from the onset of the disease till death 4--13 days), in whom the disease proceeded with azotemia and oligo-anuria, there were observed oligemia of the glomeruli with secondary changes in the cellular elements, dystrophic changes in the tubules, these changes being particularly pronounced in the proximal segment, and being accompanied by nephrohydrosis; beginning with the 4--6th day signs of regeneration, edema in the walls of vessels and swelling of a hypoxic character were noted. A distinguishing feature of HFRS was a drastic plethora of the jextamedullar zone with hemorrhages due to venous congestion.

Experiments were conducted on 40 dogs; one lobe of teh thyroid gland or one lobe and 2/3 of the other lobe were removed. There was no gain in weight of the remaining lobe, or of the residue of the gland's lobe. Recovery of the thyroid gland function by hypertrophy of the thyroid epithelium in its remaining portion was achieved by hyperplasia of the intracellular structures.
