There are only a few reports of uterine cancers in women with Down syndrome, whose tumor profile is marked by a reduced risk for solid neoplasms. There are no reports of a uterine carcinosarcoma arising in a woman with Down syndrome. in our case, a delayed diagnosis of uterine carcinosarcoma was confirmed in a 38-year-old, nulliparous, single, obese woman with Down syndrome, who presented with irregular vaginal bleeding.

The outcome analysis of 10 pregnancies at risk for neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (NAIT) is presented. An experimental protocol of cordocentesis and maternal administration of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) is compared to a control group of older untreated affected siblings. The outcome in pregnancies treated with IVIG shows improved fetal platelet count in 70% and no intraventricular hemorrhage.

A radioimmunoassay (RIA) double antibody system for human thyroglobulin (Tgl) was developed with a sensitivity of 2.5 ng/ml T3 and T4 did not interfere in the antibody Tgl binding. The blood was collected pre-, intra- and 24 hrs post-thyroidectomy from 50 females and 4 males diagnosed as polynodular goiter, hyperthyroidism, chronic thyroiditis and thyroid cancer.
