: To analyze the results of interstitial (IRT) high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy (BT) in the primary treatment of patients with unresectable superior sulcus tumors (SST) combined with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT). : Between 2013 and 2023, seven patients with unresectable SST were treated with combined BT and EBRT with or without concomitant chemotherapy. The patients' median age was 64 years (range, 49-79 years) and median tumor volume was 146.

Methods: A retrospective analysis compared an IC-CHD group to a CHD-only group.
Adhesion G protein-coupled receptors (aGPCRs) are expressed in all organs and are involved in various mechanobiological processes. They are heavily alternatively spliced, forecasting an extraordinary molecular structural diversity. Here, we uncovered the existence of unconventional single-transmembrane (1TM)-containing ADGRL/Cirl proteins devoid of the conventional GPCR layout (i.

Methods: A survey study was conducted in September 2022. Communication preferences were assessed using the CommTrans questionnaire, which included two scales: emotional resonance and gender-related communication.
The tropical Angolan upwelling system (tAUS) is a highly productive ecosystem of great socio-economic importance. Productivity peaks in austral winter and is linked to the passage of remotely forced upwelling coastal trapped waves (CTWs), where the strength of the productivity peak is associated with the amplitude of the upwelling CTW. Here, we analyze the year-to-year variability in the timing and amplitude of the austral winter upwelling CTW by examining sea surface temperature, sea level anomaly, and wind fields.

Methods: The kERAS protocol is a multidimensional protocol focusing on optimized perioperative fluid and nutrition management as well as strict intraoperative and postoperative blood pressure limits. It was applied in a prospective cohort (n = 147) of patients undergoing open or robotic PN.
Background: Cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) are a possible sequela in human brain tumor patients treated with radiation therapy (RT). No such association is reported in dogs.
Objectives: To investigate whether CMBs occur in dogs after radiotherapy, and if there is an association between number and dose, and an increase over time.
Immunologic treatment options are uncommon in low-grade gliomas, although such therapies might be beneficial for inoperable and aggressive cases. Knowledge of the immune and stromal cells in low-grade gliomas is highly relevant for such approaches but still needs to be improved. Published gene-expression data from 400 low-grade gliomas and 193 high-grade gliomas were gathered to quantify 10 microenvironment cell populations with a deconvolution method designed explicitly for brain tumors.

Therefore, an initiative was launched to analyse the state of Organisational Health Services Research (OHSR) in Germany and to develop a strategic framework and road map to guide future efforts in the field. This paper summarizes positions that have been jointly developed by consulting experts from the interdisciplinary and international scientific community.

Therefore, further characterisation is needed for clearer biological understanding and classification.
Methods And Results: Clinical, histological and molecular characterisation of four cases of biphasic, low-grade adenocarcinomas of the sinonasal tract was performed.
Background: Health Services Research (HSR) is a growing field in Germany, in which Organisational Health Services Research (OHSR) has emerged as a subfield. The aim of this scoping review was to provide an overview of the field of OHSR within HSR in Germany and to map systematically original contributions by describing the organisational setting, the research design, the research objectives and the theoretical underpinning.
Methods: A scoping review examined published abstracts from the 19th German Conference on Health Services Research 2020.
Background: The aim of the present study is to investigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the effectiveness of psychosomatic rehabilitation.
Methods: Between April 2019 and March 2022, a total of 18,388 patients from 7 rehabilitation centres could be included in the study. For each patient, score values from the HEALTH-49 and ICF AT-50 Psych questionnaires were calculated at the beginning and at the end of rehabilitation and the effectiveness of the rehabilitation program was determined by comparing the scores at the beginning and at the end of the rehabilitation programme.
The majority of transgender and gender-nonconforming people (TGNC) report negative experiences with doctors in the healthcare system. As there is little knowledge about the communication behaviour of doctors towards TGNC, this survey aimed to assess the self-reported trans-inclusive communication of doctors and their willingness to communicate trans-inclusively, as well as their self-perceived barriers to it. A mixed-methods survey was applied for this.

Kinetochores, large layered structures built on specialized chromosome loci named centromeres, promote biorientation by binding and sensing spindle microtubules. One of the outer layer main components is a ten-subunit assembly comprising Knl1C, Mis12C and Ndc80C (KMN) subcomplexes.

Adapting communication to transgender and gender-diverse individuals is particularly difficult, as little is known about the preferences of this group. Thus, the aim of the study was to develop a questionnaire to assess the communication preferences of the target group.

The aim of the article is therefore to describe the general health literacy of trans and gender diverse individuals based on a German survey.
Methods: In September 2022, a survey study was conducted in which health literacy was recorded using HLS-EU-16.
Eastern boundary upwelling systems are hotspots of marine life and primary production. The strength and seasonality of upwelling in these systems are usually related to local wind forcing. However, in some tropical upwelling systems, seasonal maxima of productivity occur when upwelling favorable winds are weak.

To train these teams, an interprofessional training program (IPTP) with two interventions (eLearning and blended learning) was developed to cover key areas of patient safety using innovative adult learning methods. The aims of this study were to pilot test IPTP regarding its effectiveness and feasibility.

While the ATPase p97 (VCP, Cdc48) has been found to be involved in the fusion of early endosomes and endolysosomal degradation, its role in endocytic trafficking is still incompletely characterized. Here, we identify myoferlin (MYOF), a ferlin family member with functions in membrane trafficking and repair, as a hitherto unknown p97 interactor.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe ATPase p97 (also known as VCP, Cdc48) has crucial functions in a variety of important cellular processes such as protein quality control, organellar homeostasis, and DNA damage repair, and its de-regulation is linked to neuromuscular diseases and cancer. p97 is tightly controlled by numerous regulatory cofactors, but the full range and function of the p97-cofactor network is unknown. Here, we identify the hitherto uncharacterized FAM104 proteins as a conserved family of p97 interactors.

At the same time, the concept of person-centred care acknowledges the role of patient-physician communication in health care outcomes. This study aims to explore patient-physician communication preferences in trans and gender-diverse individuals.
