Background: Preterm births cause fetuses to be born without completing the development of their organs. Due to this undesirable situation, it is the pulmonary tissue which has to be most exposed to harmful effects of extrauterine environment. Early disappearance of the prophylactic and constructive effects of amniotic fluid (AF) on developing tissues, such as pulmonary tissue, facilitates the formation of pulmonary morbidities resulting from oxygen.

Lattice Radiotherapy (LRT) is a technique in which heterogeneous doses are delivered to the target so large tumors can have optimal doses of radiation without compromising healthy tissue sparing. To date, case reports and case series documented its application for bulky tumors mainly in the pelvic region. LRT not only provides dosimetric advantages but also promotes tumor control by triggering some radiobiological and immunological pathways.

This study examines the postulates of the Rejection Identification Model (RIM) and Rejection Disidentification Model (RDIM) in a sample of 314 ethnic Turks from Bulgaria who migrated to Turkey. We investigate the intervening roles of immigrant and citizen identifications between perceived discrimination and the outcome variables (well-being and out-group evaluations). The results indicate that perceived discrimination predicts negative affect and out-group evaluations.

Background: New-onset atrial fibrillation (AF) is a frequent cause of presentation to the emergency department (ED). Epicardial fat thickness (EFT) is associated with the presence and recurrence of AF. However, no study has investigated the predictors of the time to conversion of AF to sinus rhythm with amiodarone therapy.

Laryngeal atresia is generally a fatal congenital anomaly with an incidence of 1: 50,000 births. This congenital anomaly is a condition of multifactorial inheritance, in which the fetus has a dilated trachea, enlarged echogenic lungs, an inverted or flattened diaphragm, fetal hydrops, and ascites. Diagnosis is usually made when there is failure to perform endotracheal intubation in a neonate with severe respiratory distress and absence of audible cry.

Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to evaluate the impact of obestatin (OB), a hormone in mother's milk, on necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in pups subjected to asphyxia and hypothermia.
  • Results showed that OB improved gut appearance and clinical scores, decreased occurrences of NEC, reduced cell death, and lowered inflammatory markers when compared to pups that did not receive OB.
  • The conclusion suggests that OB may help protect against intestinal damage in NEC, warranting further clinical research to explore its potential role in managing this condition.
