The increasing prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases has recently heightened interest in research on early diagnosis of these diseases. Parkinson's disease (PD), among the most prominent of these conditions, is a neurological disorder causing the loss of nerve cells and significantly affecting movement control. Detection of PD in early stages is of critical importance to prevent the progression of the disease and improve treatment processes.

Objectives: It has been stated that there is a need for more recognition of the "stigma concept," which negatively affects the lives of patients with breast cancer during the diagnosis and treatment process. There are no recent studies on the experiences of Turkish women with breast cancer about stigmatization that employ qualitative methods. This study aims to examine in depth the lived stigma experiences of women with breast cancer during the diagnosis and treatment process.

Parkinson's is the most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's. Motor findings in Parkinson's occur as a result of the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons starting in the substantia nigra pars compacta and ending in the putamen and caudate nucleus. Loss of neurons and the formation of inclusions called Lewy bodies in existing neurons are characteristic histopathological findings of Parkinson's.

In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of drug therapy and vaccination on prognosis in patients hospitalized with a COVID-19 diagnosis.

Brain abscess incidence and microbial etiology in Turkey: a nationwide cross-sectional study.

Objective: Brain abscess, a localized purulent central nervous system infection, arises from a variety of microorganisms. Expedited diagnosis and formulation of effective treatment strategies are crucial for mitigating mortality risks in patients with brain abscesses. A nuanced understanding of potential microbial agents is pivotal for the development of empirical antibiotic therapies.

Macroscopic and microscopic comparison of pecten oculi in different avian species.

The current study aims to present differences between the pecten oculi of different avian species through morphologic, macroscopic, light, and electron microscopic examinations. The study is a comprehensive research on seven avian species (sparrowhawk, hawk, magpie, swan, heron, pheasant, duck). The right eyes of the animals utilized in the study were removed for light microscopic examination, whereas their left eyes were removed for electron microscopic and macroscopic examinations.

Identification of royal jelly as a potential new drug to protect the ovarian reserve and uterus against cyclophosphamide in rats.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of royal jelly (RJ), a powerful natural antioxidant, on cyclophosphamide-induced ovarian damage.

Methods: Thirty-two Wistar albino rats were divided into four groups. Oral treatment was administered to all rats for 16 days after a single intraperitoneal injection.

Objective: Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF); fever, widespread pain in the body, deterioration in liver function tests; it is a tick-borne viral infectious disease that can cause bleeding and death in the skin, mucous membranes, and sometimes internal organs. In this study, we retrospectively evaluated the clinical, laboratory, and epidemiological characteristics of CCHF cases diagnosed in Afyonkarahisar.

Methods: Demographic and clinical characteristics, laboratory findings, treatments, and prognoses of patients diagnosed with CCHF in Afyonkarahisar were retrospectively analyzed.

Neurological symptoms and findings in COVID-19: a prospective clinical study.

Objective: We sought to evaluate neurologic symptoms and findings in patients with COVID-19 infection hospitalized in a ward and intensive care unit (ICU).

Background: Melanoma is a life-threatening cancer characterized with a potentially metastatic tumor of melanocytic origin. Changes in antimicrobial resistance and outcomes of health care-associated infections.

To describe the change in the epidemiology of health care-associated infections (HAI), resistance and predictors of fatality we conducted a nationwide study in 24 hospitals between 2015 and 2018. The 30-day fatality rate was 22% in 2015 and increased to 25% in 2018. In BSI, a significant increasing trend was observed for Candida and Enterococcus.

Macroanatomic, light and scanning electron microscopic structure of the pecten oculi in northern bald ibis (Geronticus eremita).

Eyes are the most primarily required sensory organs during the migration of migratory birds and Northern Bald Ibises (Geronticus eremita) are known to make long migrations. This study examined for the first time the structure of pecten oculi in northern bald ibises by using macroscopic anatomy as well as light and electron microscopic methods. In the study 20 eye globes from 10 adult bald ibises were used.

The crucial action to gain the force in the fight of COVID-19 is to have powerful monitoring of the site forming infected patients. Most of the initial tests rely on detecting the genetic material of the coronavirus, and they have a poor detection rate with the time-consuming operation.

Morphological, histological and molecular investigations on canine uterine tissue after ovariectomy.

In the present study, we investigated the course of atrophy in canine uterine tissue and the expression of estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) within 6 months after ovariectomy (OE). In nine primipar bitches of different breeds, bilateral OE and removal of one horn was performed. Six months after surgery, the remaining uterine tissue was removed.

Risperidone-Induced Renal Damage and Metabolic Side Effects: The Protective Effect of Resveratrol.

Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate the possible protective qualities of resveratrol (RSV) against the side effects of risperidone (RIS) in an experimental model in rat kidneys with histologic and biochemical assessments.

Materials And Methods: Experimental procedures were performed on 35 female Sprague Dawley rats. Rats were randomly divided into five groups: control, untreated rats ( = 7) were in group 1; group 2 was given 2 mg/kg/day RIS ( = 7); group 3 was treated with 2 mg/kg/day RIS and 20 mg/kg/day RSV ( = 7); group 4 was treated with 2 mg/kg/day RIS and 40 mg/kg/day RSV ( = 7); and group 5 was treated with 2 mg/kg/day RIS and 80 mg/kg/day RSV ( = 7).

Investigation of the antigen recognition and presentation capacity of pecteneal hyalocytes in the chicken (gallus gallus domesticus).

We investigated at different developmental stages the antigen recognition and presentation capacity of pecteneal hyalocytes that adhere to the pecten oculi in the eye of domestic chickens. Forty-eight fertilized eggs were used to investigate embryonic stages and 12 6-week-old chickens were used to investigate adults. Tissue samples from both embryos and adults were stained with monoclonal antibodies against MHC-II, TLR2/CD282 and TLR4, and also with RCA-1, WGA and SNA lectins.

Frequencies of the Common MEFV Gene Mutations in Adiyaman, Southeast Anatolia, Turkey.

Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by fever and serosal inflammation. The reasons for the disorder are mutations in the Mediterranean fever (MEFV) gene; the most common of which are M694V, M680I, M694I and V726A. In this study, we aimed to screen these common mutations of the MEFV gene and then determine the prevalence of FMF according to these mutations in Adıyaman, Southeast Anatolia, Turkey.

Platelet-rich fibrin plays a role on healing of acute-traumatic ear drum perforation.

Objective: Our objective was to demonstrate the effects of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) for the healing of acute ear drum perforation.

Methods: Thirty-two patients with acute traumatic ear drum perforations were randomly separated into 2 groups. In group 1 (n = 14), PRF was used for the repair of ear drum perforation; in group 2 (n = 18), we did not make any intervention.
