Spin-lattice relaxation rates (ω,), probed via high-field and field-cycling nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), are used to test the validity of frequency-temperature superposition (FTS) for the reorientation dynamics in viscous liquids. For several liquids, FTS is found to apply so that master curves can be generated. We present an analysis of dielectric spectra measured for a specially designed non-polymeric asymmetric binary glass former characterized by a large difference of the component's T (ΔT = 216 K). We cover the whole additive concentration range from 4% up to 90% (by mass). Two main relaxations α and α are identified, which are characterized by well separated time scales and are attributed to the dynamics associated with the high-T component (α) and the low-T component (α).

A self-consistent approximation beyond the Redfield limit and without using the Anderson-Weiss approximation for the Free Induction Decay (FID) of deuteron spins belonging to polymer chains undergoing reptation is formulated. The dynamical heterogeneity of the polymer segments created by the end segments is taken into account. The present study aimed at elucidating the uptake and biotransformation of T2 and HT2 toxins in five cultivars of durum wheat, by means of cultured plant organs. An almost complete absorption of T2 toxin (up to 100 µg) was noticed after 7 days, along with the contemporaneous formation of HT2 in planta, whereas HT2 showed a slower uptake by uninfected plant organs. Untargeted MS-analysis allowed to identify a large spectrum of phase I and phase II metabolites, resulting in 26 T2 and 23 HT2 metabolites plus tentative isomers.

The past 15 years have seen an astonishing increase in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) sensitivity and accessible pressure range in high-pressure NMR experiments, owing to a series of new developments of NMR spectroscopy applied to the diamond anvil cell (DAC). Recently, with the application of electro-magnetic lenses, so-called Lenz lenses, in toroidal diamond indenter cells, pressures of up to 72 GPa with NMR spin sensitivities of about 10 spin/Hz has been achieved. Here, we describe the implementation of a refined NMR resonator structure using a pair of double stage Lenz lenses driven by a Helmholtz coil within a standard DAC, allowing to measure sample volumes as small as 100 pl prior to compression.

Heart failure and atrial fibrillation often coexist, especially with increasing degree of heart failure severity. Under this constellation, the advantage of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is still under discussion and displayed as an unresolved problem in the guidelines for cardiac stimulation and resynchronization. The Marfan syndrome is a heritable disorder of the connective tissue which affects the cardiovascular, ocular, and skeletal system. The cardiovascular manifestation with aortic root dilatation, aortic valve regurgitation, and aortic dissection has a prevalence of 60% to 90% and determines the premature death of these patients. Thirty-four percent of the patients with Marfan syndrome will have serious cardiovascular complications requiring surgery in the first 10 years after diagnosis.

Management of acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) demands rapid and complete reperfusion of the infarct-related artery (IRA). With postinfarction prognosis depending on time delay from onset of symptoms to complete reperfusion (TIMI 3 flow) of the IRA, primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) performed by an experienced team has been shown to be superior to thrombolytic therapy with lower mortality, less frequent occurrence of nonfatal reinfarction and stroke, and thus represents the preferred treatment strategy according to the national and international guidelines. For regional implementation of PPCI, particularly in rural areas, information and transfer logistics within networks of care and direct transport of an infarction patient to a PCI hospital rather than to the closest hospital are a challenge.

Background And Objective: A clinical entity that mimics acute coronary syndrome with reversible left ventricular systolic dysfunction and is triggered by emotional stress was identified in 6 patients by screening a database of > 1000 patients with the ICD-10 coding of acute coronary syndrome. The search criteria were acute coronary syndrome, normal coronary anatomy, absence of coronary lesions and transient left ventricular dysfunction, triggered by emotional stress.

Dual antiplatelet-aggregation treatment with aspirin and clopidogrel after coronary stent implantation is nowadays standard peri-interventional practice, although its use is not yet licensed for this indication in many European countries. Clopidogrel administration is initiated before PCI with a loading dose of 300 mg when given at least 6 hours before PCI, otherwise 600 mg. The required duration of combined (aspirin + clopidogrel) antiplatelet-aggregation treatment after coronary stent implantation depends on the type of stent and the pre-existing disease.
