- Naratriptan is an antimigraine medication that binds to specific serotonin receptors, offering better tolerability and lower recurrence rates compared to other triptans, but it has a slow onset of action and reduced efficacy due to first-pass metabolism.
- To enhance its effectiveness, a fast dissolving film formulation of Naratriptan was developed using a solvent casting method with Hydroxypropylmethyl Cellulose (HPMC E6) and glycerol as key ingredients.
- The optimized formulation (batch F3) showed rapid disintegration (22 seconds) and high drug release (91% in 120 seconds) making it a promising alternative for migraine treatment.
