The implementation of equal opportunities is a challenge for the staff of an anaesthesia department. At the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Hannover Medical School, a local Gender Equality plan has been implemented to create a secure and transparent framework for reconciling scientific and clinical careers with family responsibilities. Today, family and career should be equally compatible for men and women.

The aims of our study were to evaluate any prior experience, expectations and the requisites for interprofessional ICU simulation-based training (SBT), and to evaluate a newly designed training course incorporating these findings. The study was laid out as a cross-sectional study and is projected in three steps.

An interdisciplinary and interprofessional pain therapy aims for an immediate improvement of the patients' quality of life, a reduction of the risk of postoperative morbidity and mortality in the medium term, prevention of any pain chronification in the long run as well as a reduction of hospitalization and sick leave. The "Agreement of the Professional Association of German Anesthesiologists and the Professional Association of German Surgeons for the Organization of Postoperative Pain Therapy" exists since 1992.

Methods: As evidence from published studies was lacking, an expert panel developed recommendations for the perioperative use of dipyrone. After a formal, structured consensus process, the recommendations were approved by the involved medical societies.

The therapy offered by pain services supplements the treatment provided by the other departments involved, ensuring the high quality of specialized pain management in all areas of the hospital.

A gamma camera positioned behind an x-ray flat panel detector can accomplish such simultaneous acquisition, but the gamma camera performance suffers from the intense x-ray dose. A regular NaI(Tl)-based camera has nominal performance up to 0.

We have previously proposed a dual-layer detector that offers such procedural guidance by simultaneous fluoroscopic and nuclear planar imaging. Acquisition of single photon computed tomography (SPECT) and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) could provide additional information on the activity distribution.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose To develop and evaluate a dual-layer detector capable of acquiring intrinsically registered real-time fluoroscopic and nuclear images in the interventional radiology suite. Materials and Methods The dual-layer detector consists of an x-ray flat panel detector placed in front of a γ camera with cone beam collimator focused at the x-ray focal spot. This design relies on the x-ray detector absorbing the majority of the x-rays while it is more transparent to the higher energy γ photons.

In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled cross-over study this experimental protocol was used to assess the effects of paracetamol. Methods Twenty-four subjects were enrolled in this study.

Anaesthetic waste gas concentration in postanaesthesia care units (PACU) has rarely been investigated.
Objective(s): The current study aims to assess concentrations of volatile anaesthetics in relation to room size, number of patients and ventilator settings in different PACUs.
