This study examines the changes in clinical risk factors among individuals treated in Dutch Penitentiary Psychiatric Centers (PPCs). Using data from 874 patients with diverse psychiatric disorders, clinical risk factors were assessed at admission and discharge. Slight but significant improvements were observed in most risk factors, particularly psychotic symptoms, over an average stay of approximately 6 months.

The synthetic flexibility of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with high loading capacities and biocompatibility makes them ideal candidates as drug delivery systems (DDSs). Here, we report the use of CAU-7, a biocompatible bismuth-based MOF, for the delivery of two cancer drugs, sodium dichloroacetate (DCA) and α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (α-CHC). We achieved loadings of 33 and 9 wt % for DCA and α-CHC, respectively.

The reaction was carried out for long reaction times (∼5 d) in a water/DMF-mixture and resulted in the formation of [Bi(O)(OH)(TATB)]·HO (denoted as CAU-35). By switching to short reaction times and a methanol/DMF-mixture as the solvent, an analogue of CAU-7-BTB with the composition [Bi(TATB)]·DMF·6HO (denoted as CAU-7-TATB) was obtained.
