Previous studies have demonstrated that laserpuncture has a positive effect on longitudinal bone growth within varying parameters. The current authors hypothesized that laserpuncture affects serum concentration of insulinlike growth factor 1 (IGF-1), a growth factor that influences growth plates, and ghrelin, a growth hormone (GH) secretagogue. The goal of this research was to investigate if laserpuncture could increase serum concentrations of IGF-1 and ghrelin in adolescent rats.
