Objective: To test the hypothesis that there is no difference in the vertical alveolar bone levels and alveolar bone thickness around the maxillary and mandibular central incisors in surgically treated skeletal Class III malocclusion patients.
Materials And Methods: The study sample comprised 20 Korean patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion with anterior crossbite and openbite (9 male, 11 female, mean ages 24.1).
Objectives: To compare the amounts of anatomical overjet measured from facial axis (FA) points with the amounts of bracket overjet measured from bracket slot center (BSC) points.
Materials And Methods: The samples consisted of 27 subjects with normal occlusion whose models were fabricated with a three-dimensional (3D) scanner and the 3Txer program (Orapix Co Ltd, Seoul, Korea). 3D virtual brackets (0.
Sequences for rpoB, gyrB, pdiA, and ompA were determined from 63 Bacteroides fragilis isolates, which were from Korea and Japan and include 4 reference strains. All 4 gene sequences supported clear separation of the cfi(+) group from the cfi(-) group. Combined sequences of the 60 division I isolates (cfi(-)) produced 45 different clones.

This study investigated whether PDL cells could differentiate into osteoblastic-like cells by SP. The expression of osteoblastic differentiation markers such as osteopontin (OPN), osteonectin (ON), osteocalcin (OCN) and bone sialoprotein (BSP) were evaulated by Western blotting.

A new type of orthodontic mini-implant called the C-implant can be an effective alternative to conventional 1-component screws in orthognathic patients because of its particular design. Its small size and 2-component structure make it easily applicable for various types of difficult intermaxillary fixation cases such as 2-jaw orthognathic surgery, 1-jaw surgery with genioplasty, and orthognathic surgery without presurgical orthodontic treatment. The 2-part design highly resists fracture or deformation during placement and removal, and the long-span head allows the patient to easily attach intermaxillary elastics for traction.

Recently, the concept of skeletal anchorage using mini-implants has been introduced in the field of orthodontics and have shown successful results. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the clinical application of osseointegration of surface treated two component mini-implants (C-implant) in managing dental midline correction.

Early differentiation of mycobacteria in sputa is crucial. This study was set to evaluate the usefulness of a newly developed duplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for hsp65 gene-based method in differentiating mycobacteria in sputum with a positive acid-fast bacilli (AFB) smear before culturing. One hundred forty-seven sputa with positive AFB smear were included for the analysis.

Introduction: Although the sand-blasted, large-grit, and acid-etched surface-treated mini-implant (C-implant, CImplant Co, Seoul, South Korea) is designed to endure heavy and dynamic loads and offers high stability during orthodontic treatment, implications of its removal are still unknown. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the removal torque values (RTVs) of early-loaded mini-implants.
Methods: Sixty-four mini-implants (1.
Aim: To show the clinical application of surface-treated mini-implants (C-Implants) in managing an anterior torque control during en masse retraction of anterior dentition.
Methods: Nickel-titanium archwire with reverse curve of Spee, which is directly engaged in the hole of C-Implants, and severe curve of Spee can be overlaid on anterior segmented archwires to generate anterior torque on the anterior dentition to resist lingual tipping during en masse retraction. This treatment mechanics is called the biocreative therapy type II technique.
Aim: To show the effectiveness of the osseointegration-based mini-implant (C-Implant) in managing anterior torque control during en masse retraction of anterior dentition. Severe gable bends can be applied on utility archwire that is directly engaged in the hole of C-Implants to generate anterior torque on the anterior segment of teeth to resist lingual tipping during en masse retraction. This treatment mechanics is called the biocreative therapy type I technique.

The aims of this study were to elucidate the relationships between mutation patterns and their frequencies in the X region and clinical status in a Korean cohort and determine specific X mutation types, related closely with liver disease progression. All X mutations were determined by direct sequencing in 184 patients with different clinical features.

In the present study, the prevalence of preS deletions was determined in terms of clinical state and HBeAg serostatus in 120 patients with different clinical features [59 HBeAg positive, 61 HBeAg negative; 38 asymptomatic carriers, 21 patients with chronic hepatitis, 21 patients with liver cirrhosis, 40 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)]. In particular, an unusual 10-amino acid residue sandwiched between the pro-domain and the catalytic domain of ST3 exists in ST3 but not in other matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). To specifically detect ST3 expression in human tumors, we have made two kinds of ST3-specific polyclonal antibodies.

Its 16S rRNA gene sequence was unique and phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that this organism belonged to the Mycobacterium terrae subclade. Phenotypically, the strain was generally similar to M.

In this article, we describe the treatment of a woman, aged 25 years 8 months, with a Class II malocclusion, severe anterior protrusion, and a high mandibular plane angle. The treatment plan consisted of extracting both maxillary first premolars and mandibular second premolars. En-masse retraction of the 6 maxillary anterior teeth was performed with a lingual approach combining a C-lingual retractor and a C-palatal plate (C-plate).

The clonogenic cell death caused by beta-lap could be significantly inhibited by dicoumarol, an inhibitor of NAD(P)H:quinone oxido-reductase (NQO1), and also by siRNA for NQO1, demonstrating that NQO1-induced bioreduction of beta-lap is an essential step in beta-lap-induced cell death. Irradiation of A549 cells with 4 Gy caused a long-lasting upregulation of NQO1, thereby increasing NQO1-mediated beta-lap-induced cell deaths.

This article describes the orthodontic treatment of a 14.5-year-old girl with severe bidentoalveolar protrusion. Specially designed sandblasted, large-grit, acid-etched (SLA) orthodontic microimplants (C-implants, Cimplant Co, Seoul, Korea) were placed in the alveolar bone in all 4 quadrants to provide anchorage for en-masse retraction without the help of banded or bonded molars.
