Relationships between body composition analysis measures in Greek women and US white women.

We investigated the regional changes in body composition relative to age, in healthy Caucasian women living in the Mediterranean area. Body composition of total and subtotal body was measured, and fat mass (FM) ratios along with FM and lean mass (LM) indices were calculated in 330 women aged 20-85 years, using DXA. Data were compared with the NHANES reference database.

Dynamic contrast-enhanced subtraction MRI for characterizing intratesticular mass lesions.

Objective: The objective of our study was to analyze the enhancement patterns of various intratesticular mass lesions at dynamic contrast-enhanced subtraction MRI and assess the value of the technique in distinguishing between benign and malignant lesions.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated the records and images of 44 consecutive men (11 benign and 16 malignant intratesticular lesions) who presented to the department of urology with a variety of clinical symptoms and were referred for imaging. Dynamic contrast-enhanced subtraction MRI was performed using a 3D fast-field echo sequence after the administration of paramagnetic contrast medium.

Renal cell carcinoma: value of multiphase MDCT with multiplanar reformations in the detection of pseudocapsule.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic performance of four-phase (unenhanced, arterial, portal, and nephrographic-excretory) MDCT with multiplanar reformations in the detection of pseudocapsule of renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

Materials And Methods: In a retrospective study of 29 histologically proven RCCs in 29 patients (17 men, 12 women; mean age, 59 years), examinations were performed with a 16-MDCT scanner. The protocol included unenhanced and three-phase (arterial, portal, and nephrographic-excretory) contrast-enhanced CT.

Diffusion-weighted MR imaging of normal and abnormal scrotum: preliminary results.

Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of the scrotum represents an important supplemental diagnostic tool in the evaluation of scrotal diseases. Diffusion-weighted (DW) MR imaging is a developing technique, proved to improve tissue characterization. We evaluated the feasibility and diagnostic performance of DW MR imaging in the detection and characterization of scrotal lesions.

Diagnosis and endoscopic treatment of esophago-bronchial fistula due to gastric heterotopy.

Heterotopic gastric mucosa patches are congenital gastrointestinal abnormalities and have been reported to occur anywhere along the gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus. Complications of heterotopic gastric mucosa include dysphagia, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, upper esophageal ring stricture, adenocarcinoma and fistula formation. In this case report we describe the diagnosis and treatment of the first case of esophago-bronchial fistula due to heterotopic gastric mucosa in mid esophagus.
