Testicular atrophy secondary to a large long standing incarcerated inguinal hernia.

Testicular atrophy is a rare but distressing complication of inguinal hernia repair. Apart from the postsurgical etiology, ischemic orchitis and subsequent testicular atrophy may occur secondary to compression of the testicular vessels by chronically incarcerated hernias. We present a rare case of testicular atrophy secondary to a large long standing incarcerated inguinal hernia of 2-decade duration in a 79-year-old man.

Retroperitoneal liposarcoma extending into the thigh.

The authors describe a case of a giant retroperitoneal liposarcoma that extended into the thigh along the course of the iliopsoas muscle. The tumor was successfully excised en bloc through an abdominal and a proximal thigh incision. Histopathologic examination revealed a well-differentiated, lipoma-like liposarcoma with clear surgical margins.

Segmental liver incarceration through a recurrent incisional lumbar hernia.

Background: Lumbar hernia is a rare congenital or acquired defect of the posterior abdominal wall. The acquired type is more common and occurs mainly as an incisional defect after flank surgery. Incarceration or strangulation of hernia contents is uncommon.
