Novel Budesonide Suppository and Standard Budesonide Rectal Foam Induce High Rates of Clinical Remission and Mucosal Healing in Active Ulcerative Proctitis: a Randomised, Controlled, Non-inferiority Trial.

Background And Aims: Proctitis is the least extensive type of ulcerative colitis, for which rectal therapy is rarely studied and is underused. This study evaluated the efficacy, safety, and patient's preference of a novel formulation of budesonide suppository 4 mg, compared with a commercially available budesonide rectal foam 2 mg, for the treatment of mild to moderate ulcerative proctitis.

Methods: This was a randomised, double-blind, double-dummy, active-controlled trial.

High Primary Antibiotic Resistance of Strains Isolated from Pediatric and Adult Patients in Poland during 2016-2018.

Monitoring the antibiotic resistance of is an important step in the effective treatment of this bacterium, thus the aim of the present study was to assess the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance of strains isolated from pediatric and adult patients with primary infections in 2016-2018. Antral biopsies from 334 treatment-naïve patients (126 children and 208 adults) were obtained. A total of 71 clinical strains (22 from children and 49 from adults) were isolated and examined for amoxicillin (AMX), clarithromycin (CLR), metronidazole (MTZ), tetracycline (TET), and levofloxacin (LEV) susceptibility.
