Postoperative adhesion around nerves sometimes results in sensory and motor dysfunctions. To prevent these disorders, we have developed an electrospun nanofiber sheet incorporating methylcobalamin (MeCbl), an active form of vitamin B12 with anti-inflammatory and neuroregenerative effects. This study aimed to investigate the neuroprotective effects of MeCbl sheets against postoperative adhesion and to compare the effects of MeCbl sheets with those of porcine small intestinal submucosa (SIS) sheets using a rat sciatic nerve adhesion model.

Of the 144 strains obtained, four novel CGPB strains were isolated and phylogenetically identified: Rhodococcus sp. AF2108, Ancylobacter sp.

We retrospectively examined the clinical outcomes and complications of BPA at Yokohama City University Hospital (YCUH) between 2012 and 2018. In 2012, we began to conduct BPA sessions in 46 patients with inoperable CTEPH; 34 completed the BPA scheme and the follow-up plan.

Aim Of The Study: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a pathological condition associated with inflammation owing to fat deposition in the liver. Managing hypertriglyceridemia is essential for patients with NAFLD, including treatment with pemafibrate. However, whether pemafibrate affects fat deposition in the liver and whether hypertriglyceridemia is the primary treatment target remain unclear.

Dietary intervention represents a clinically viable alternative strategy to induce beige cells and thus enhance metabolic health, though the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. In this study, we identified specific microbiota members in both mice and humans that promote browning of white adipose tissue (WAT) and ameliorate metabolic disorders in the context of a low-protein diet (LPD).

Based on the results of the TOPAZ-1 trial, a gemcitabine and cisplatin plus durvalumab (GCD) regimen was recently approved as first-line therapy for patients with advanced BTC. However, post-GCD conversion surgery has not been previously studied.

Objectives: The Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia in 2019 (AWGS 2019) emphasized muscle mass measurements. In contrast, the Sarcopenia Definitions and Outcomes Consortium (SDOC) prioritizes functional strength and mobility. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the prognostic utility of the SDOC and AWGS 2019 criteria for all-cause mortality in older patients with heart failure.

However, its role in inflammatory macrophages remains unclear. Herein, we investigated the function of neudesin in the regulation of inflammatory macrophages.

We investigated the association between early rehabilitation and short-term clinical outcomes in patients with acute HF requiring IV inotropic drugs.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
There is a high demand for the development of drugs against Alzheimer's disease (AD), which is related to the misfolding and aggregation of Amyloid-β (Aβ), due to the increasing number of patients with AD. In our present study, we aimed to assess the aggregation inhibitory effect of various synthetic YS-peptides on Aβ25-35 to identify an applicable peptide for clinical use for AD treatment and prevention. Suppression and aggregate resolution activities of YS-peptides against Aβ25-35 were evaluated using a Thioflavin T assay and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

The abnormal change of bacterial-derived products could imply specific injuries or play beneficial or harmful roles in DKD progression. In this study, we examined the presence and contribution of the Klebsiella oxytoca gene in the circulation of patients with DKD.

Objective: This study aimed to examine the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the incidence of cardiometabolic risk factors among Japanese workers in fiscal years (FY) 2020 and 2021 compared with the prepandemic period.
Method: This study comprised an average of 71 025 employees in Japan who underwent annual health check-ups for at least two successive years from 2015 to 2021.
Background: Data are limited on the protective role of the Omicron BA bivalent vaccine, previous infection, and their induced neutralizing antibodies against Omicron XBB.1.16 and EG.

Methods And Results: We enrolled 340 consecutive patients with ACS who were transported by EMS within 12 h of symptom onset. According to Japanese Circulation Society guidelines, CS-ACS (n=48) was diagnosed with or without a pharmacological provocation test (n=34 and n=14, respectively).
Red meat and processed meat intake has been linked to increased risk of type 2 diabetes; however, evidence from Asia is limited and inconsistent. We prospectively examined the association of intake of total meat and its subtype with type 2 diabetes in a Japanese working population. Participants were 2709 workers aged 18-78 years who reported no history of diabetes when they responded to a health survey for the first time between 2012 and 2019.

Methods: A risk prediction model was developed using the routine health checkup data of 96,117 Japanese employees (84.0% men) who were 30-64 years of age and had no CVD at baseline.
Solid surfaces in contact with nonaqueous solvents play a key role in electrochemistry, analytical chemistry, and industrial chemistry. In this work, the zeta potentials of cotton membranes in acetonitrile solutions were determined by streaming potential and bulk conductivity measurements. By applying the Gouy-Chapman theory and the Langmuir adsorption isotherm of ions to the experimental data, the mechanism of the electrification at the cotton/acetonitrile interface is revealed for the first time to be solely due to ion adsorption on the surface, rather than proton dissociation at the interface.

However, the prognostic implications of post-6MWT dyspnoea remain unknown. We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of Borg scores after the 6MWT in patients with HF.
