Benzophenone derivatives exhibit not only biological activity but also act as photo initiator and UV blocker. We carried out experimental and theoretical thermochemical studies of hydroxy- and methoxy-substituted benzophenones. Standard molar enthalpies of vaporisation were obtained from the temperature dependence of vapour pressures measured by the transpiration method.

[Results of treatment with intravenous amantadine sulfate (PK-Merz) patients with chronic disorders of consciousness].

The article presents literature review of the recent publications devoted to the drugs with dopaminergic, antiglutamatergic and GABA-ergic effects in the treatment of patients with vegetative state/areactive wakefulness syndrome (VS/AWS). The authors analyzed their own results of the effects of intravenous form of amantadine sulfate (PK Merz) in 142 VS/AWS patients caused by different etiological factors. Depending on the dominant neurological symptoms, patients were divided into three main groups: areactive type of course (group 1 - 61 patients), predominance of primitive limbic reactions (group 2 - 35 patients) and predominance of extrapyramidal symptoms (group 3 - 46 patients).

The fine lamellar fault structure of primary MC carbide particles in the heat-resistant Fe-Cr-Ni-C alloy of the HP series (0.45C-25Cr-35Ni) in the cast condition has been revealed using transmission electron microscopy. The lamellar fault structure is regarded as an inheritance of the initial melt structure.

[Effect of long term application of toothpaste Apadent Total Care Medical nano-hydroxyapatite].

The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of toothpaste «Apadent Total Care» containing nanocalciumhydroxyapatite and its influence on caries resistance of tooth enamel and teeth sensitivity. The study involved 30 people: 15 patients aged 17-25 years and 15 aged 35-44 years. Study participants used «Apadent Total Care» toothpaste with nanocalciumhydroxyapatite.

[Treatment outcome of chemotherapy with superselective cerebral artery catheterization in vegetative state patients].

The purpose of the study is to assess the impact of superselective neurotransmitter metabolic therapy in patients in a vegetative state. Superselective intraarterial infusion was conducted on 26 patients with relevant international criteria for the diagnosis of vegetative state. Comprehensive assessment of neurologic symptoms and severity of low metabolism on PET scan allowed to select the vascular pool, for the catheter installation.

[The role of rivastigmine (exelon) in the treatment of consequences of cranial-brain trauma].

The use of rivastigmine in the rehabilitation of patients with cognitive disturbances after cranial-brain trauma (CBT) is reviewed. Replacement of cholinergic deficit exerts a positive effect on sanogenetic process in the brain, facilitate consolidation and learning of afferent information in the restoring brain. The authors emphasize that the administration of neuromediator preparations needs the level of organization of integrative brain activity which is sufficient for the formation of awakening reaction (opening of eyes - awakening from coma).

Cancer-testis antigen expression in uterine malignancies with an emphasis on carcinosarcomas and papillary serous carcinomas.

The cancer testis (CT) family of antigens are expressed in certain malignant neoplasms and are silent in normal adult tissues, except for the testis. Expression of 2 members of this family, MAGE-A4 and NY-ESO-1, has been described recently in germ cell tumors, malignant melanomas, certain carcinomas and sarcomas. Our study is the first to describe the expression pattern of CT antigens in uterine neoplasms.
