[Correction of urodynamic disorders in women with obstructive urination].

From a position of urodynamic evaluation, obstructive urination represents a violation of the phase of urinary bladder emptying. The study was aimed to evaluation of urodynamic parameters in women with obstructive urination on a background of conservative treatment. The study included 40 women with obstructive urination aged 26 to 72 years.

[Current approaches to the treatment of non-gonococcal urethritis in men].

The study was made of 50 men suffering from non-gonococcal urethritis caused by mixed pathogenic and opportunistic urogenital infection. Clinical characteristics of urethritis in relation to infection pathogen are shown. The results of clinical and laboratory examinations were considered in choice of antibacterial therapy.

[Efficacy of combined physiotherapeutic methods in complex treatment of patients with chronic infectious urethroprostatitis].

The study is aimed at investigation of efficacy and safety of a combined effect of laser therapy and vibromagnetotherapy in complex treatment of patients with chronic urethroprostatitis in the presence of sexually transmitted infection (STI). A total of 35 males aged 20 to 51 years entered the study. They were divided into 3 groups.

[Combined treatment of complicated chlamydial infection in males with ozone therapy].

Urogenital chlamydial monoinfection was diagnosed in 127 males using enzyme immunoassay, polymerase chain reaction, transrectal ultrasound examination of the prostatic gland. Of them, 72 patients had chronic urethroprostatitis. Microhemodynamics of these patients was studied with laser doppler flowmetry of the prostate and urethra.

[Efficacy of low-intensity laser radiation and antibacterial therapy in the treatment of chronic prostatitis in the presence of sexually transmitted infections].

We studied 94 patients with chronic prostatitis (CP) in combination with urogenital chlamydiasis. The patients were divided into three groups. Group 1 consisted of 32 patients with bacterial prostatitis and sexually transmitted infection (STI).

[The genotoxic effect of gunshot wounds].

Evidence for alterations in chromosomes of experimental animals (rats) and humans after gunshot wounds is presented. The rate of chromatid exchanges induced by gunshot wounds in humans depend on the saturation of body tissues with ascorbic acid. It is assumed that free-radical processes underlie the deleterious effect of gunshot wounds on chromosomes.

[Connection between severity of the course of tick-borne encephalitis with the concentration of interleukin-2 and interleukin-6 in blood].

Aim: To test IL-6 and IL-2 serum concentrations as indirect prognostic indicators in tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) course.

Material And Methods: 13 TBE patients' sera were examined for IL-2 and IL-6.

Results: IL-6 was not detected in patients with TBE fever but was detected in meningoencephalytic TBE.

[Protective activity of a bacterial plasmid, bearing the gene for the tick-borne encephalitis virus NS1 nonstructural protein].

Three intramuscular injections (50 micrograms each) with bacterial plasmid pMV45 carrying nonstructural gene of NS1 protein of tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus protected 88% Balb/c mice from lethal challenge with the virus. Antibodies to NS1 nonstructural protein were detected in the sera of vaccinated mice after the challenge. Absence of antibodies to E structural protein indicated absence of manifest infectious process in mice vaccinated with plasmid and challenged with a lethal dose of TBE virus.

[The effect of the antioxidants elton and leveton on the physical work capacity of athletes].

Study of 44 athletes of various sport skill undergoing training for endurance showed the chemiluminescence method to be an important parameter indicating that a person is trained for physical exertion. The broad-spectrum adaptogenic agents elton and leveton reduced in in-vitro experiments the superweak luminescence of urine, which is evidence of their direct antioxidant effect. Twenty-day administration of elton and leveton reduced chemiluminescence and the level of malonic dialdehyde in the urine of highly skilled athletes and increased their physical working capacity tested by bicycle ergometry with gradually increasing physical loads.

New concepts of the pathogenesis in the healing process of gunshot wounds.

By applying cytogenetic methods to the study of gunshot injuries, the authors showed that disturbances of the chromosomic apparatus integrity occurred. These disturbances are present for a long period and aggravate the severity of the wound-healing process.

[A comparative study of the anabolic action of ecdysten, leveton and Prime Plus, preparations of plant origin].

A new class of anabolic substances includes different saponins, originated from Leuzea rhaponticum sp. The effect of these substances on the human body was studied by caliperometric measurements of body folds. All tested substances taken orally for three weeks diminished fat content under conditions of daily aerobic-anaerobic training.

[The action of carnitine derivatives on the work capacity of previously trained animals].

The effects of carnitine derivatives on the fitness of pretrained animals were studied. It was found that carnitine preparations such as L-carnitine, mildronate, and acetyl-L-carnitine used for 10 days statistically significantly increased the maximum running speed and its endurance, whereas DL-carnitine failed. The effects of carnitine preparations on speed endurance were in proportion to their antioxidative activity.

[Evaluation of the effectiveness of prophylactic vitamin administration to school children in Moscow].

The influence of prophylactic vitamin administration to schoolchildren in Moscow was studied basing on the parameters of their providing with vitamins, physical development and health. It was established that as a result of prophylactic vitamin administration of "Undevitum" during 6 months the morbidity rate (especially, of acute respiratory diseases) decreased that produced a definite economic effect. The prophylactic vitamin administration to schoolchildren in the winter-spring period has been recommended.

[Wound healing as affected by constitutional immunity factors].

The authors examined 52 patients with gunshot wounds of various localization. Besides the type of wound healing, they determined the ABO system blood groups, the value of phagocytosis intensity and the value of connective tissue saturation with ascorbic acid, which, as it was shown earlier, are unrelated to the current condition of the wound process and may serve for predicting the risk of wound purulent complications. The distribution features of the studied values in patients with gunshot wounds were compared with those in individuals with gunshot-inflicted wounds.

[Daily energy consumption, physiological standards of energy requirement and energy value of food rations for children in boarding schools of the Georgian SSR].

To determine daily energy consumption the time budget was studied and energy consumption by children of varying age and sex was calculated at the main postures and types of activity. The data obtained have shown that the energy value of food rations during a year exceeded the physiological energy requirement in schoolchildren of the I age group on the average by 20-35 kcal, while in the II and III age groups it was lower by 30-150 kcal. These results show the necessity of rationalization of nutrition for children in boarding schools of Tbilisi.

[Normal variability of the immuno-physiological reactivity of the human body and its role in wound healing].

The authors studied the influence of constitutionally conditioned peculiarities of reactivity of an organism on the differences in the wound healing in 226 surgical patients with the extensive wounds and in 274 healthy subjects from the aboriginal population of Siberia, Middle Asia and Transcaucasian region.

[Rational nutrition for the pupils of choreography schools].

The authors provide data obtained in the course of studying energy expenditures in choreographic students of the city of Perm depending on age and sex. Present scientifically validated food and energy requirements with regard to which approximate daily sets of foods and weekly diets for different age groups with regard to sex have been developed. It has been established that these diets tried during school year at the Perm choreographic college exert a beneficial effect on the students.

[Characteristics of the reaction of immunologically tolerant mice to the polyclonal stimulant salmozan].

The nonspecific stimulant of the immune response salmozan (Sal) increases the number of PFC against SRBC in intact mice, B mice (thymectomized, irradiated and reconstituted with embryonic liver cells), and in mice pretreated with cyclophosphamide (CY). This effect was decreased in mice pretreated with SRBC and CY. The subsequent injections of SRBC and Sal into tolerant mice did not increase the response under study.

[A reactivity to polyclonal stimulation of immunogenesis with salmozan after its repeated administration].

The injection of 100 micrograms of salmozan (polysaccharide isolated from Salmonella typhi somatic O-antigen) or 50 micrograms of Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide into mice induced a considerable increase in the number of antibody-forming cells in the spleen in response to the injection of sheep red blood cells (SRBC) 2-3 days later. This polyclonal effect was essentially weaker if the animals previously received 500 micrograms of salmozan (9-10 days prior to the injection of SRBC). The absence of reactivity was not linked with antibodies to salmozan or with some other serum factor.

[Thymus-dependence of genetic resistance to (CBA x M523)F1 lymphocytes].

The nature of cells responsible for the genetic resistance of lethally irradiated CBA mice to lymphocytes of (CBA x M523)F1 hybrids was studied. Preirradiation of the hosts was shown to abolish the resistance. The latter was generally recovered by syngeneic thymocytes or splenocytes while embryonic liver and bone marrow cells or splenocytes treated with anti-Thy-I serum plus complement before injection into host were ineffective.
