We previously revealed the structural basis of Ca dependent regulation of a polyethylene terephthalate (PET)-degrading enzyme, Cut190, and proposed a unique reaction cycle in which the enzyme repeatedly binds and releases Ca. Here, we report crystal structures of Cut190 mutants with high thermal stability complexed with PET-like ligands that contain aromatic rings. The structural information has allowed us to perform further computational analyses using a PET-trimer bound model.

In this study, we sought to improve the enzymatic hydrolysis of glucuronide conjugates of five psychoactive drugs (11-nor-9-carboxy-Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol, oxazepam, lorazepam, temazepam, and amitriptyline).

We propose a mechanism for substituent-responsive reactivities of p-quinodimethane derivatives with four ester groups through their hierarchical and asymmetric assembly modes. Four asymmetric 7,8,8-tris(methoxycarbonyl)-p-quinodimethanes with a 7-positioned ethoxycarbonyl (2 a(H)), 2'-fluoroethoxycarbonyl (2 b(F)), 2'-chloroethoxycarbonyl (2 c(Cl)), or 2'-bromoethoxycarbonyl (2 d(Br)) were synthesized and crystallized. 2 a(H), 2 b(F) and 2 d(Br) afforded only one shape crystal, while 2 c(Cl) did two polymorphic 2 c(Cl)-α and 2 c(Cl)-β.

Emotion regulation in bipolar disorder type-I: multivariate analysis of fMRI data.

Background: Bipolar disorder type-I (BD-I) patients are known to show emotion regulation abnormalities. In a previous fMRI study using an explicit emotion regulation paradigm, we compared responses from 19 BD-I patients and 17 matched healthy controls (HC). A standard general linear model-based univariate analysis revealed that BD patients showed increased activations in inferior frontal gyrus when instructed to decrease their emotional response as elicited by neutral images.
