In vitro experiments on fibrin films using purulent exudate from the abdominal cavity of rats with experimental peritonitis demonstrate the fibrinolytic effect of bacterial proteinases immobilized on a polymeric matrix. The application of Imozimaza in the complex treatment of experimental peritonitis by the way of intraperitoneal lavage resulted in reliable lowering of mortality, due to the lysis of fibrinopurulent abdominal contents and better contact between antibacterial agents and peritonitis pathogens. In the clinic, prolonged abdominal proteolysis was applied to 44 patients with postoperative diffuse purulent peritonitis of >24 h duration.

Mental wellbeing was assessed using a 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ). The study group comprised 325 persons (aged 15-54 years) who had continued to live in the high-fallout area in Bryansk, Russian Federation, classified as a strict control zone with respect to the level of fallout and subsequent radiation protection countermeasures.

The panoramic indices were 1) cortical bone height, 2) an ordinal classification, and 3) the Panoramic Mandibular Index. The results indicate that panoramic dental radiographs should not be used to assess the patient's status regarding osteoporosis, although the means of the variables in different mineral density groups of skeleton may differ significantly.

The panoramic mandibular index was used in a group of postmenopausal women to determine whether it correlates with bone mineral densities of the femoral neck, lumbar area, and the trabecular and cortical parts of the mandible. The bone mineral density values were measured by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry of the femoral neck and lumbar area and by quantitative computed tomography of the mandible. Linear correlation of the panoramic mandibular index with all bone mineral density values was weak.

A total of 70 patients with different variants of such fractures were examined. The x-ray examination included polypositional roentgenography, linear tomography and panoramic sonography with the Sonarc apparatus.

A gel-chromatographic study showed that 40 days after irradiation the surviving animals showed a 2 times increase of substances with a molecular mass of 600-850 daltons in the homogenate of lymphoid organs.

Indications for stage inspection of the abdomen in different variants are discussed. The results were best in the group of patients (42 cases) treated by programmed relaparotomy and poor in patients (10 cases) in whom laparostomy had to be established.
