Hematological parameters and functional status of erythrocytes were studied by the osmotic and ammonium loads in healthy newborns and in adults. Mean erythrocyte volume of newborns more than in adults. Significant difference index of osmotic fragility of neonates were observed in the transition from swelling to hemolysis.

A convenient and reliable enzyme immunoassay of platelet melatonin has been developed using the Melatonin ELISA kits (IBL Hamburg GmBH). The proposed methods permit the quantitative determination of platelet melatonin, which opens up new prospects for using this indicator for diagnostic purposes.

A new donor antidiphtheritic immunoglobulin produced in the Hematology and Transfusiology Institute of AMS of Ukraine and Donetsk transfusiology station is discussed in the article. The medication, antidiphtheritic horse serum had been used during the diphtheria epidemic, as a medication in Donetsk clinics. The medication meets requirements of State and International Standards and is registered in Ukraine.

The report contains the results of a palrographic study of the blood and CSFin 726 patients with different disorders of the nervous system. It was possible to demonstrate statistically significant differences in the degree of expressiveness of the Brdicki filtrate test in benign and malignant tumors. The authors also established the significance of a differential diagnostical test, permitting to distinguish a vascular (pseudotumor) brain disorder from a tumorousone.

The authors conducted a polygraphic study of the blood plasma proteins in 102 patients with brain tumors of a different histological structure. The data depicted a moderate statistically significant increase of the first and second catalytical waves in benign tumors and a significant (1.5 times more) increase in malignant and metastatical tumors in comparison to the data achieved in donors.
