This study aimed to assess the quality of YouTube (YT) videos providing medical information on cervical spine fractures; secondly, a comparison of two timeframes has been conducted. Using Google Chrome with privacy settings to minimize personalization, two searches were conducted on 20 July 2021 and the second one on 10 April 2024 using various terms related to cervical spine injuries. Videos were evaluated using the DISCERN (Quality Criteria for Consumer Health Information), GQS (Global Quality Score), and JAMA scoring systems.

We present a case of a 42-year-old man, who presented to the emergency department with symptoms of tetraparesis after a session of spinal manipulation therapy. magnetic resonance imaging visualized a lesion located at C3-C7 causing spinal cord compression with surrounding soft tissue edema suggesting epidural hematoma.

Methods: Single-cell sequencing in peripheral blood mononuclear cells revealed a novel human-specific long noncoding RNA called (heart failure-associated transcript 4).
Dural metastases of prostate adenocarcinoma are an extremely rare complication and may mimic intracranial hematoma. Preoperatively diagnosis may be difficult due to similarities in symptoms and radiological appearance. We present a 65-year-old man admitted to the ED with a history of headache, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, diplopia, as well as numbness of his left lower extremity.

Lipodystrophy syndromes (LDs) are characterized by loss of adipose tissue, metabolic complications such as dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and fatty liver disease, as well as accelerated atherosclerosis. As a result of adipose tissue deficiency, the systemic concentration of the adipokine leptin is reduced. A current promising therapeutic option for patients with LD is treatment with recombinant leptin (metreleptin), resulting in reduced risk of mortality.

Transcriptome sequencing showed that adenosine-to-inosine (A-to-I) RNA editing was responsible for 80% of the editing events in the myocardium.

Alternative mRNA splicing is a fundamental process to increase the versatility of the genome. In humans, cardiac mRNA splicing is involved in the pathophysiology of heart failure. Mutations in the splicing factor RNA binding motif protein 20 (RBM20) cause severe forms of cardiomyopathy.

Endothelial cells play an important role in maintenance of the vascular system and the repair after injury. Under proinflammatory conditions, endothelial cells can acquire a mesenchymal phenotype by a process named endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT), which affects the functional properties of endothelial cells. Here, we investigated the epigenetic control of EndMT.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) comprise novel epigenetic regulators which control cardiovascular diseases and inflammatory disorders. We aimed to identify lncRNAs regulated in circulating immune cells of the blood of heart failure patients.

The study population consisted of 75 patients with PAF during IHD who were divided into two groups; gr. I (left atrial dimension 40 mm) and gr.

The high gain ECG was recorded during basic rhythm with orthogonal Frank leads X, Y, Z. These combined into a vector magnitude and the QRS duration (QRS), the duration of low amplitude signals < 40 microV (LPD) and the root mean square voltage of the signals in the last 40 and 50 ms of the filtered QRS (RMS 40,50) were calculated for VSAE.

Examination covered 25 IHD pts (12 male and 13 female) with LP, mean age 58.6 +/- 7.

The systolic and diastolic arterial blood pressure in atrial fibrillation was higher than in patients with sinus rhythm, both during daily activities and during night rest. The heart rate in those below 40 years showed greater diurnal fluctuations than in atrial fibrillation and patients aged over 40 years.

In the present study the effect of physical exertion on the activity of polymorphonuclear (PMN) leukocytes was investigated. Following both short-term (running 2,000 meters) and long-term (running 10,000 meters) exertion, phorbol-stimulated chemiluminescence, as an indicator of leukocytic oxygen radical formation and release of leukocytic elastase, as a parameter of degranulation, were determined immediately after running.
