An 80-year-old woman who had been diagnosed with an endobronchial carcinoid tumor visited our hospital for treatment with an endoscopic technique. However, a bronchoscopic examination at our hospital showed spontaneous regression of the tumor at the orifice of the right middle lobar bronchus. Chest computed tomography five months later revealed no local recurrence.

A 17-year-old non-smoker man developed spontaneous pneumothorax, and computed tomogram scanning of his chest revealed a ground-glass opacity measuring 5 x 5 mm in the right lung with no change in its size for the next 7 months. The tumor was resected by local excision using a novel approach, the "hemi-plastron window" technique. The patient had an uneventful postoperative course and no recurrence of tumor 28 months after surgical treatment.
