Horner's syndrome caused by the first rib fracture sustained during coronary artery bypass grafting: a case report and literature review.

Background: Horner's syndrome is a rare complication of cardiovascular surgery. A bone fragment and hematoma due to rib fracture after cardiac surgery may cause injury to the brachial nerve plexus and sympathetic nerve trunk, leading to neurologic disorders and Horner's syndrome. However, few reports have revealed the etiology of Horner's syndrome after cardiovascular surgery based on imaging.

Pseudoaneurysm formation after embolization of giant arteriovenous malformation of the lower limb associated with Parkes Weber syndrome: A case report and literature review.

A 63-year-old woman presented with a giant arteriovenous malformation (AVM) of the lower limbs associated with Parkes Weber syndrome (PWS). The AVM was supplied by 4 branches of the right profunda femoris artery and 4-stage embolization was performed. At 67 years of age, she developed a pseudoaneurysm due to the recanalization of a coiled profunda femoris artery branch arterial aneurysm.

Successful sutureless repair of multiple left ventricular free wall ruptures due to Takotsubo cardiomyopathy: a case report.

Background: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM) is a temporary and reversible systolic abnormality of the left ventricular apical area resembling a myocardial infarction. Cardiac rupture due to TCM is a rare but fatal complication. Without cardiac surgery, 94% of patients with left ventricular free wall rupture (LVFWR) due to TCM die.

Should mitral annuloplasty be performed for patients with mild ischemic mitral regurgitation?

Purpose: We investigated whether mitral annuloplasty (MAP) should be performed for mild ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR).

Methods: We selected 57 patients with preoperatively mild IMR. Twenty-eight patients who previously had moderate MR or more, underwent MAP (group 1) while 29 patients with persistent mild MR, did not (group 2).

We report a surgical case of infected thoracic aortic aneurysm. Before arrival of the cryopreserved aortic allograft, the patient had hemoptysis resulting from aneurysm rupture. Therefore endovascular stent grafting was urgently performed three days prior to in situ allograft implantation.
