Bone-marrow-homing lipid nanoparticles for genome editing in diseased and malignant haematopoietic stem cells.

Therapeutic genome editing of haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) would provide long-lasting treatments for multiple diseases. However, the in vivo delivery of genetic medicines to HSCs remains challenging, especially in diseased and malignant settings. Here we report on a series of bone-marrow-homing lipid nanoparticles that deliver mRNA to a broad group of at least 14 unique cell types in the bone marrow, including healthy and diseased HSCs, leukaemic stem cells, B cells, T cells, macrophages and leukaemia cells.

Background: Clinical practice guidelines assist healthcare professionals in providing evidence-based care. However, pharmaceutical companies' financial interests often influence guideline content. This study aimed to elucidate the magnitude of financial ties among Japanese gastroenterology guideline authors and the pharmaceutical industry.

Backgrounds: Conflict of interest with pharmaceutical companies is one of the most concerned issues in infectious diseases. However, there is a lack of whole picture of detailed payments in Japan.

Methods: This retrospective study assessed financial relationships between pharmaceutical companies and all infectious disease specialists board-certified by the Japanese Association for Infectious Disease, using publicly disclosed payment data from 92 major pharmaceutical companies.

Evaluation of Conflicts of Interest among Participants of the Japanese Nephrology Clinical Practice Guideline.

Background And Objectives: Rigorous and transparent management strategies for conflicts of interest and clinical practice guidelines with the best available evidence are necessary for the development of nephrology guidelines. However, there was no study assessing financial and nonfinancial conflicts of interest, quality of evidence underlying the Japanese guidelines for CKD, and conflict of interest policies for guideline development.

Design, Setting, Participants, & Measurements: This cross-sectional study examined financial and nonfinancial conflicts of interest among all 142 authors of CKD guidelines issued by the Japanese Society of Nephrology using a personal payment database from all 92 major Japanese pharmaceutical companies between 2016 and 2019 and self-citations by guideline authors.

GaAsBi/GaAs multi-quantum well LED grown by molecular beam epitaxy using a two-substrate-temperature technique.

We report a GaAsBi/GaAs multiple quantum well (MQW) light emitting diode (LED) grown by molecular beam epitaxy using a two-substrate-temperature (TST) technique. In particular, the QWs and the barriers in the intrinsic region were grown at the different temperatures of [Formula: see text] = 350 °C and [Formula: see text] respectively. Investigations of the microstructure using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) reveal homogeneous MQWs free of extended defects.
