Little is known about how blood free amino acids (FAAs) change in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). This study aims to identify the imbalance of FAAs in MASLD and explore its correction as a potential therapeutic target. We analyzed plasma FAAs data from 23,036 individuals with steatosis information from a biobank in Japan, and 310 patients with MASLD were enrolled.

Methods And Results: Using cardiac 4D-CT data, we calculated RV strain in 3 different geometries and RV outflow tract (RVOT) mass in 42 patients with repaired TOF. We compared RV strain and RVOT mass between patients with and without PH.
Anhydrous calcium carbonate crystals exist as three polymorphs: calcite, aragonite, and vaterite. Although vaterite is a metastable phase rarely found in the geological environment, it is intriguing that various biominerals are composed of vaterite. The processes of stable vaterite formation in biological systems cannot be understood without elucidating the nature of vaterite.

Objectives: To examine whether an objective measure of activity scores measured using a sheet-type non-wearable sensor (Nemuri SCAN [NSCAN]) was correlated with agitation levels measured using the modified Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale (RASS) in terminally ill patients with cancer.
Background: Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (NS) presents as a hypercoagulable state, of which thromboembolism (TE) is a well-known life-threatening complication. Although TE is more likely to occur in venous vessels than arterial vessels, arterial TE is important because it may cause after-effects, including tissue necrosis and cerebral infarction (CI); therefore, prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment are required. We report a pediatric NS case with multiple CIs.

In the present study, we aimed to determine the rate of granuloma detection by gastrointestinal biopsy according to the number of biopsies performed.
Methods: The present study included patients newly diagnosed with CD at our hospital between April 2017 and March 2023.
Atopic dermatitis itch may cause sleep disturbance and impair quality of life. For patients finding topical therapy difficult to continue, it is important to control itch and reduce scratching. This study developed algorithms to measure nocturnal sleep and scratch, using an actigraph device worn on the back of the hand, and assessed smartphone application feedback to improve adherence with therapy.

So far, as immunotherapy has substituted molecular target agents as the primary systemic therapy for advanced HCC, cabozantinib is extensively used in the latest real-world clinical practice in a greatly different position than that shown by the CELESTIAL trial. In the current analysis, we examined the safety and effectiveness of cabozantinib administration in real-life settings for patients with advanced HCC.

HBV DNA can get integrated into the hepatocyte genome to promote carcinogenesis. However, the precise mechanism by which the integrated HBV genome promotes HCC has not been elucidated.

Methods: Past CT images were retrospectively collected from the PDAC group ( = 54) and the control group ( = 90).
Background: Hyperprogressive disease (HPD) is a phenomenon with greatly accelerated tumor growth and clinical deterioration rates compared to pre-therapy, in patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). The aim of this study is to clarify the reality of HPD in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who were treated with atezolizumab plus bevacizumab (Atez/Bev) using tumor dynamics.
Methods: Medical records of consecutive patients with advanced HCC who were treated with Atez/Bev were retrospectively reviewed.
Intraductal papillary neoplasms of the bile duct (IPNB) are a tumor derived from bile duct epithelium that tends to spread laterally and non-invasively. Surgery is the first-choice treatment for IPNB. It is extremely important to accurately diagnose the extent of lateral tumor extension.

There are only a few large-scale studies analyzing prehospital process databases of the fire department.
Study Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate whether characteristics of patients with FBAO were associated with prehospital factors and outcomes.
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of phosphoproteins on bacterial mineralization. Dental calculus formation is attributed to bacterial mineralization in the oral cavity; however, the influence of phosphoproteins (which are abundant in saliva) is not clear. The model bacterium Escherichia coli was suspended in a calcification solution containing casein as a model phosphoprotein.

One of the materials retaining radiocesium in the environment is radiocesium-bearing silicate glass microparticles (CsMPs), which have not been reported in previous nuclear accidents. Although the prediction of environmental fates of CsMPs is of interest because of their extremely high specific radioactivity, knowledge about their physicochemical properties is still limited.

Stratified water collection plays a crucial role in water quality monitoring, as most water bodies are not perfectly mixed systems. In order to precisely collect stratified waters, we developed an inexpensive, simple, and high-resolution sampler to simultaneously collect and measure physical and chemical parameters along vertical water profiles. The water sampler predominantly consists of two parts: (1) an apparatus for measuring sampling depth below the water and (2) water sampling units secured below the water.

It has been reported that ceramide regulates collagen production through TGF-β/Smad pathway activation. In this study, we examined whether miglustat, an inhibitor of glucosylceramide synthase, can suppress liver fibrosis by reducing TGF-β/Smad pathway activity.

This complication is commonly called rib flaring. This paper presents a technique to avoid rib flaring and evaluates its effectiveness.
