The k-cardinality unbalanced assignment problem asks for assigning k "agents" to k "tasks" on a one-to-one basis, while minimizing the total cost associated with the assignment, with the total number of agents N and the total number of tasks M possibly different and larger than k. While many exact algorithms have been proposed to find such an optimal assignment, these methods are computationally prohibitive when the problem is large. We propose an approach to solving the k-cardinality assignment problem using techniques adapted from statistical physics.

Recent progress in solving macromolecular structures and assemblies by cryogenic electron microscopy techniques enables sampling of their conformations in different states that are relevant to their biological function. Knowing the transition path between these conformations would provide new avenues for drug discovery. While the experimental study of transition paths is intrinsically difficult, in-silico methods can be used to generate an initial guess for those paths.

Cubital tunnel syndrome is the second most common neuropathy of the upper extremity. Cubital tunnel syndrome caused by intraneural ganglion cysts is rare in clinical practice. We present the case of a 71-year-old male patient with a 4-month history of cubital tunnel syndrome of the left elbow due to an intraneural ganglion cyst.
