In the field of cancer care, it is still difficult to say that advance care planning(ACP)has been fully integrated, and the perceptions of ACP vary depending on the individual's role. Since oncologists have a deeper understanding of the patient's condition and prognosis than the patients themselves, they are often the first to recognize the future need for ACP. It is important to gather and incorporate patients' preferences and relevant information regarding ACP early in the course of daily cancer treatment.

A rare case of leiomyosarcoma with a pleomorphic component of the sigmoid colon.

A 66-year-old man presented to our institution with a positive fecal occult blood test and lower abdominal pain. Although a tumor was found in the sigmoid colon, biopsy and imaging studies failed to enable the diagnosis of the cancer, and the patient underwent surgery for treatment and diagnosis. The tumor had two distinct areas with differing features shown both histopathologically and on imaging; it was thus diagnosed as a leiomyosarcoma of the sigmoid colon with a pleomorphic component.

Although a Western diet has been identified as a risk factor for Crohn's disease (CD), there is still controversy surrounding the specific foods that may contribute to the development of the disease. In this study, we examined the association between food intake and the prevalence of CD in Japan, as Japanese patients with CD are known to have limited genetic involvement. We identified changes in food intake associated with an increase in the number of patients with CD by analyzing the per capita consumption of food types from 1981 to 2014.

Impact of Rainfall on the Detection Performance of Non-Contact Safety Sensors for UAVs/UGVs.

This study comprehensively investigates how rain and drizzle affect the object-detection performance of non-contact safety sensors, which are essential for the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles and ground vehicles in adverse weather conditions. In contrast to conventional sensor-performance evaluation based on the amount of precipitation, this paper proposes spatial transmittance and particle density as more appropriate metrics for rain environments. Through detailed experiments conducted under a variety of precipitation conditions, it is shown that sensor performance is significantly affected by the density of small raindrops rather than the total amount of precipitation.
