Impact of vasopressin use for postoperative atrial fibrillation in off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting.

Postoperative atrial fibrillation complicates 15-40% of cardiac surgery cases and is associated with various adverse health outcomes including high mortality. Although vasopressin administration decreases postoperative atrial fibrillation in on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting, its use in off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting has not been investigated. Therefore, we evaluated the effect of vasopressin use in off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting.

Successful perioperative management of simultaneous transcatheter aortic valve implantation and hip fracture surgery: a case report.

A 90-year-old woman with severe aortic stenosis experienced hospital readmission for chronic heart failure exacerbations many times and was admitted to our hospital for undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation. Thereafter, she fell in the ward and fractured her femoral trochanter, requiring early hip fracture surgery. We proposed that we should perform simultaneous transcatheter aortic valve implantation and hip fracture surgery to cardiologist and orthopedist from anesthetic and perioperative management perspective.

[The perioperative management for pheochromocytoma resection in a patient with chronic renal failure requiring long-term hemodialysis].

We report the perioperative management of a 55-year-old man with chronic renal failure requiring long-term hemodialysis, who underwent laparoscopic adrenalectomy for pheochromocytoma. He was pretreated with doxazosin, a calcium channel blocker and a beta-adrenoceptor antagonist to control blood pressure until surgery. His dry weight increased slowly from 57 kg to 58.
