[NEW DIRECTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT OF BREAST CANCER SCREENING].

Objective: to improve breast cancer diagnosis using an independent mammographic teleassessment by two radiologists. Material and methods. The results of a dual independent assessment of 3440 X-ray mammographic examinations were analyzed.

[SPECT/CT radiation in treatment of bone metastases of osteosarcoma].

The aim of this study was to demonstrate the diagnostic ca- pabilities to control effects of radiotherapy treatment in patient with osteosarcoma bone metastases by SPECT-CT method. There was conducted SPECT/CT treatment monitoring of the patient with bone metastases of osteosarcoma after external radiotherapy and cyber knife. There were detected changes in the SPECT/CT-pictures of treated bones osteosarcoma metasta- ses.

[ASSESSMENT OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION STATES IN ADOLESCENTS AS THE INITIAL STAGE FOR PSYCHOPROPHYLACTIC WORK IN SCHOOL].

In the article there are presented data of the study of psycho-physiological indices of higher nervous activity in adolescents, there are established the interrelationships between the type of temperament and the level of performance of schoolchildren. There was made en evaluation of the prevalence of depressive states in 8th graders, defined the frequency of occurrence of various levels of anxiety. There are denoted basic directions of the preventive work on the anxiety level down in senior schoolchildren; as well as measures aimed at reduction of the number of students with depressive states.

[Velcade in multiple myeloma].

Aim: To study efficacy of velcade therapy in patients with progressive or refractory multiple myeloma (MM).

Material And Methods: From April 2005 to November 2006 velcade was used in therapy of 18 patients (11 females and 7 males) with progressive or refractory to prior standard therapy MM course. The patients' age median was 55 years (36 to 76 years).

[Quantitative changes in characteristics of immunity in longlivers].

In 93 persons aged 90 to 103 years old the subpopulation compositon of lymphocytes and the level of thymic serum activity (TSA) was studied. In the presence of polymorbidity the low level of TSA was observed in 81% of examinees, with the quantitative deficiency in the relative and absolute number of CD3+CD8+ T-lymphocytes (62% and 78% respectively) and the excess in the number CD3+CD4-CD8- T-lymphocytes (42% and 57% respectively). Among CD3+CD4-CD8- T-lymphocytes cells with phenotypes CD3+/-CD4-CD8-CD16- and CD3+CD4-CD16+ were determined.

[The role of clinical and imaging criteria in risk assessment during preoperative chemotherapy for osteosarcoma].

Prognosis for stage IIB osteosarcoma was evaluated versus the role of preoperative management of clinico-radiologic status in 293 patients. Three--five preoperative intra-arterial cycles of doxorubicin 90mg/m2 or cisplatin 120mg/m2 were given in 1986-1999, and later were followed by 3-4 cycles of doxorubicin and cisplatin in similar doses. Clinico-radiologic status was assessed in the course of preoperative chemotherapy.

[Strontium-89 diagnosis and therapy of bone metastases].

A clinical test of strontium-89 chloride effect was carried out in 150 patients with bone metastases and bone pain from different patterns of tumor. Different types of bone lesions were considered. Pain-relieving effect was reported in 77%, irrespective of lesion gravity.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy and local radiotherapy for high-grade osteosarcoma of the extremities.

Objective: To determine the effectiveness of radiation therapy for local control of nonmetastatic osteosarcoma of the extremities after induction chemotherapy.

Patients And Methods: Of 187 patients with nonmetastatic osteosarcoma of the extremities treated with induction chemotherapy since 1986, 31 refused surgery and underwent standard, fractionated external beam radiotherapy for local control. The median radiation dose to the limb was 60 Gy (range 40-68 Gy).

[Cranial bone neoplasm in early triassic amphibia].

A neoplasm in cranial bone of an early Triassic amphibian has been investigated. Although no tissue has survived, the cranial flat bone is similar to that in living animals of the same class. Evidence is presented in support of a hypothesis that the neoplasm is a skeletal tumor which consists of non-functional bone and looks like an atypical tumorous bone of skeletal origin.

[Radiation diagnosis of malignant neoplasms at the current stage].

The paper presents all currently available oncological radiation diagnostic tools as compared to the well-known ones. It discusses different methods of obtaining images depending on their physical features: digital plain radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, bone scintigraphy, positron emission tomography, radioimmunoassay, ultrasonography (by using Doppler, intraoperative ultrasound, laparoscopy and thoracoscopy ultrasound, endoscopy ultrasound, contrast-medium ultrasound). The feasibilities of interventional radiology in malignancies are more precisely defined.

[Clinical course, diagnosis and therapy of Ewing's sarcoma of the ribs in children].

X-ray examination is considered to be the most effective procedure for diagnosis of Ewing's sarcoma of the rib. The extent of surgery and sequence of procedures are determined on the basis of its evidence. Treatment of infantile Ewing's sarcoma of the rib should include chemoradiation therapy and compulsory surgery.

[The action of laser radiation on thymic hormone production].

Irradiation of the epithelial cells from human thymus (cell line HTSC) by arsenid-gallium laser (0.89 nm, 1500 Hz) induces an enhancement of thymic hormone production. The concentration of alpha-1-thymosin was substantially increased on the days 1 and 5 in culture after irradiation.

[Methodological approaches to the analysis of postradiation impairment of lympho- and hematopoiesis].

Human intrathymic precursors are characterized by mitogenic reaction on thymic hormone, lacking the cortical and medullar thymic membrane markers (CD3, CD4 and/or CD8) and expressing of the common T-cell CD7 and CD5 antigens. Fraction 1.062 g/cm3 of peripheral white blood cells contains cells with analogous characteristics.

[Influence of Bacillus intermedius RNAase on thymus cell composition and T-lymphocyte differentiation in an experiment].

It was shown that exposure of mice AKR and (CBA X C57B1/6)F1 to Bacillus intermedius RNAase and its derivative selectively inactivated by the active centre histidine stimulated T-lymphocyte maturation. With using bone marrow and spleen lymphocytes of congenitally thymus-free mice it was revealed that this effect of RNAase was defined by induction of Thy-1 antigen of the lymphocyte plasmic membrane and not associated with homology of the enzyme primary structure and the alpha 1-thymosin structure.

[T-lymphocyte precursor count in the thymus and the development of lymphomas in AKR/J-strain mice].

The content of T-cell precursors is increased in the thymus of AKR/J mice. Thymus also contains cells carrying markers of pre-T (SC-1-antigen) and T-(Thy-1-antigen) cells simultaneously. The level of SC-1+-cells grows just before the lymphoma appearance in the AKR/J thymus.

[Postirradiation dynamics of T-lymphocyte precursors and thymus regeneration in mice].

Irradiation of CBA mice elicits a pronounced response of intrathymus and bone marrow precursors of T-lymphocytes (PTL) which is manifested by an increase in a relative content of PTL in the thymus and their transfer from bone marrow to thymus. The estimate of the regenerative potency of the thymus most adequately reflects the cellular events leading to regeneration thereof. The differences in the thymus regeneration dynamics between CBA and AKR mice are associated with different radiation response of the intrathymic SC-1-PTL in mice of these strains.
