Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the risk factors that may cause postoperative otomycosis in patients undergoing Chronic Nonsuppurative Otitis Media (CNSOM) surgery.

Methods: In this retrospective study, 409 out of 523 patients met the inclusion criteria. 44 patients diagnosed with otomycosis CNSOM were analyzed.

The Role of Social Support in Enhancing Life Satisfaction Among Syrian Refugees in Türkiye During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Purpose: This study investigates the role of perceived social support from family and friends in enhancing life satisfaction among Syrian refugees in Türkiye during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 636 Syrian refugees residing in Istanbul and Hatay provinces. The study used the Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale, the COVID-19 State Anxiety Sources Scale, and the Satisfaction With Life Scale.

Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Focus Detection Based on the Correlation Between Brain MR Images and EEG Recordings with a Decision Tree.

Background/objectives: In this study, a medical decision support system is presented to assist physicians in epileptic focus detection by correlating MRI and EEG data of temporal lobe epilepsy patients.

Methods: By exploiting the asymmetry in the hippocampus in MRI images and using voxel-based morphometry analysis, gray matter reduction in the temporal and limbic lobes is detected, and epileptic focus prediction is realized. In addition, an epileptic focus is also determined by calculating the asymmetry score from EEG channels.

Evaluation of Anatolian Water Buffalo Carcass Weights Based on a Slaughterhouse Data Collection.

This study analyzed data collected on a slaughterhouse from 2017 to 2021, belonging to five hundred and twenty one Anatolian water buffalos from different farms located in Edirne, Istanbul, and Kirklareli. Specifically, it aimed to determine the factors affecting the carcass weights and slaughter ages of the Anatolian water buffalos. The results of the study showed that the slaughter age of the buffalos was a significant determinant of their carcass weights.

Structural EEG signal analysis for sleep apnea classification.

Objectives: Diagnosing the sleep apnea can be critical in preventing the person having sleep disorder from unhealthy results. The aim of this study is to obtain a sleep apnea scoring approach by comparing parametric and non-parametric power spectral density (PSD) estimation methods from EEG signals recorded from different brain regions (C4-M1 and O2-M1) for transient signal analysis of sleep apnea patients.

Methods: Power Spectral Density (PSD) methods (Burg, Yule-Walker, periodogram, Welch and multi-taper) are examined for the detection of apnea transition states including pre-apnea, intra-apnea and post-apnea together with statistical methods.

Defining the relationship between ovarian adult granulosa cell tumors and synchronous endometrial pathology: Does ovarian tumor size correlate with endometrial cancer?

Objective: The main feature of adult granulosa cell tumors (AGCT) is their capacity to secrete hormones, with nearly all of them capable of synthesizing oestradiol. These can often be traced to differences in cognitions such as beliefs and values, which are foundational components of any given culture. This paper refines the operationalization of cultural clashes by identifying differences in beliefs about causality ("which actions cause which outcomes") and morality (in the broad sense of "what is evaluated as desirable") as two fundamental sources of conflict.

Serum levels of heavy metals in patients with Bell's palsy: a case-control study.

Purpose: The exact etiology of Bell's palsy (BP) remains unknown, while its potential etiopathology includes neuritis and inflammation-related demyelination as in optic neuritis. It has been reported that disruption of heavy metal homeostasis may be associated with the inflammatory process of optic neuritis; therefore, heavy metals may be involved in the pathogenesis of facial nerve neuritis. In this study, we aimed to investigate serum levels of heavy metals including essential elements [iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), cobalt (Co), and manganese (Mn)], and nonessential elements [lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd)] in patients with BP.

Excitability of somatosensory cortex is increased in ALS: A SEP recovery function study.

Objective: Neuronal loss in the somatosensory, as well as the motor cortex in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), indicative of a structural abnormality has been reported. The scale items were created after reviewing the studies focusing on engagement and those developing engagement scales. For validity and reliability, data were collected from 1039 students (Female = 749, Male = 290) who were receiving distance education via LOCs in 34 different departments of 21 universities in Turkey.
