The Effect of Lean Hospital Practices on Nurses' Direct Care Activities: Time and Motion Study.

Background: This study investigates the effects of lean management practices on nurses' direct patient care activities and the interruptions they encounter in healthcare settings. The literature indicates that lean management enhances efficiency and improves patient care. Increased nursing time per patient correlates with better outcomes; however, rising patient loads and frequent interruptions hinder nurses' ability to deliver effective care, jeopardising patient safety.

Elucidation of the Microwave-Assisted Synthesis and Characterization of Heteronuclear Complexes of Bisbenzimidazole Derivatives and Their Biological Activities by In Vitro and In Silico Assays.

A novel and efficient protocol for the microwave-assisted synthesis of diversely substituted 2,2'-bisbenzimidazol-5,6'-dicarboxylic acid (BIMCA) from the reaction of 3,4-diaminobenzoic acid with oxalic acid has been developed, which proceeds through sequential nucleophilic addition and electrophilic substitution in accordance with the Philips method. The synthetic utility of this strategy was demonstrated by the concise, one-pot synthesis of (BIMCA) and metal complexes. (BIMCA) with a [{Fe(salen)}O] Schiff base ligand complex and new benzimidazole coordination compounds with double oxygen [(BIMCA){Fe(salen)}] ligand complexes were obtained.

Alcohol- and Low-Iron Induced Changes in Antioxidant and Energy Metabolism Associated with Protein Lys Acetylation.

Understanding the role of iron in ethanol-derived hepatic stress could help elucidate the efficacy of dietary or clinical interventions designed to minimize liver damage from chronic alcohol consumption. We hypothesized that normal levels of iron are involved in ethanol-derived liver damage and reduced dietary iron intake would lower the damage caused by ethanol. We used a pair-fed mouse model utilizing basal Lieber-DeCarli liquid diets for 22 weeks to test this hypothesis.

Multiple Nervous System Involvement of Erdheim-Chester Disease With Responsive Perinephritic Hypermetabolism.

A 36-year-old man who was at follow-up for histiocytosis had sudden-onset symptoms of unilateral ophthalmic increased pressure. The patient was referred to the FDG PET/CT for determination of involvement with suspicion of Erdheim-Chester disease. The reduction of the FDG uptake in all of the lesions (medial temporal lobes, nasal septum, medulla spinalis in sacral region, as well as perinephritic infiltrations), which were determined by the first PET/CT, was achieved at second imaging.

Technology-Based Health Promotion Training Among Stroke Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Stroke is a disease with a heavy social and familial care burden that can cause permanent brain damage, long-term disability, and/or death. This study aimed to determine the effect of technology-based health promotion training on the daily life activities, quality of life, and self-care of stroke patients. Palliative care and spiritual care competency measurement among Turkish Nurses: A scale adaptation study.

Objectives: This study aimed to conduct a Turkish validity and reliability study of the Palliative Care Spiritual Care Competency Scale.

Methods: The sample of the study consisted of 354 nurses. In the first stage, the forward-backward translation method was used to develop the Turkish version of the Palliative Care Spiritual Care Competency Scale.

Nursing Students' Spiritual/Religious Coping Strategies Dealing With First Experience of Witnessing Death During Clinical Practices.

This study aims at determining spiritual/religious coping strategies of nursing students dealing with the first experience of witnessing death during clinical practices. One of the qualitative research approaches, a descriptive phenomenological study was designed. The study was carried out with 14 nursing students studying at a state university in Turkey.

Religious attitude, spirituality and mental adjustment in Turkish geriatric oncology patients.

Aim: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between religious attitudes and spirituality levels of geriatric oncology patients and their psychological reactions to cancer.

Methods: The sample consisted of 261 geriatric oncology patients who were inpatients in oncology and hematology clinics of a university hospital. The research was conducted between 30 July 2020 and 26 January 2022.

Patient safety culture and attitudes among emergency care unit nurses in Türkiye.

Background: Nurses have a key role in ensuring the safety of patients, reducing the likelihood of errors and improving patient outcomes.

Aims: This study aimed to determine the factors affecting patient safety, with a focus on the culture and attitudes of nurses working in emergency units.

Method: This cross-sectional, descriptive, correlational study was conducted between 10 January and 30 August 2015 among 282 nurses who worked at emergency units of 19 hospitals in the north-central Black Sea Region of Türkiye Data were obtained using descriptive information forms, the Patient Safety Attitude Scale (PSAS) and the Patient Safety Culture Scale (PSCS).

Evaluation of mitochondrial biogenesis and ROS generation in high-grade serous ovarian cancer.

Introduction: Ovarian cancer is one of the leading causes of death for women with cancer worldwide. Energy requirements for tumor growth in epithelial high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) are fulfilled by a combination of aerobic glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS). Although reduced OXPHOS activity has emerged as one of the significant contributors to tumor aggressiveness and chemoresistance, up-regulation of mitochondrial antioxidant capacity is required for matrix detachment and colonization into the peritoneal cavity to form malignant ascites in HGSOC patients.

Sexual Function and Quality of Life Among Turkish Oncology Patients Receiving Chemotherapy.

Objective: Sexual health and sexual function in oncology patients are inseparable elements of general quality of life and important indicators of emotional well-being. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the quality of life and sexual function of oncology patients receiving chemotherapy.

Data Sources: This cross-sectional and correlational study was conducted within the chemotherapy unit of a university hospital between June 25, 2017, and June 21, 2018.

Effects of Nursing Care Provided to the Relatives of Palliative Care Patients on Caregivers' Spiritual Well-Being and Hope: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of nursing care, based on Watson's Theory of Human Caring, given to the relatives of palliative care patients on caregivers' spiritual well-being and hope. This research was planned as a randomized controlled trial and conducted among 60 patient relatives (intervention group: 30, control group: 30) taking care of their patients in five palliative care units in Turkey. Data were collected via the Introductory Information Form on Patient Relatives, the Beck Hopelessness Scale, and the Spiritual Well-Being Scale.

Cancers and Benign Processes on Ga PSMA PET-CT Imaging Other than Prostate Cancer.

 Imaging plays an important role in the evaluation of prostate cancer patients. In recent years, much attention has been focused on gallium 68 prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography-computed tomography ( Ga PSMA PET-CT) in prostate cancer patients and has been widely used for staging, restaging, and therapy response for these patients. The aim of this study was to report Ga PSMA PET-CT in other cancers and benign processes incidentally detected on Ga PSMA PET-CT in patients with prostate cancer.

The Relationship between Pathological Features and F-FDG PET/CT that Changed the Surgeon's Decision as Neoadjuvant Therapy in Breast Cancer.

 Patients diagnosed with breast cancer and decided to undergo surgical treatment can undergo neoadjuvant therapy following their 2-deoxy-2-[fluorine-18]fluoro-D-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography ( F-FDG PET/CT) findings. The present study aims to determine the statistical significance of these patients whose treatment plan was changed and the reasons for the change in the plan.  The demographic features and treatment plans of 151 cases who were diagnosed with any stage of breast cancer were evaluated.

Loneliness, Social Support Level, Quality of Life and Symptom Management Among Turkish Oncology Patients.

This cross-sectional and correlational study was performed in order to determine the relationships between the perceived loneliness and social support levels of Turkish oncology patients, as well as their quality of life and symptom management. A total of 370 oncology inpatients participated in this study. Data were collected using, the FACT-G Quality of Life Scale, the Multi-Dimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), the UCLA-Loneliness Scale (UCLA-LS), and the Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale.

Workplace violence, occupational commitment and intention among emergency room nurses: A mixed-methods study.

Aims And Objectives: This study aimed to determine the correlations between the violence experienced by emergency nurses in the work environment, their occupational commitment and their intention to resign.

Background: The emergency service, when compared with other hospital departments, is the unit where violence against healthcare workers is most common.

Design: A multi-method design was used.

Superscan Appearance of Ga PSMA PET/CT in a Patient with Refractory Prostate Cancer.

A 64-year-old male patient with metastatic prostate carcinoma diagnosis received lutetium-177 prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) treatment; however, his disease progressed. Herein, presented the final images of the patient that demonstrated a superscan appearance in the Gallium-68 PSMA positron emission tomography/computed tomography, which is a rare phenomenon.

The effectiveness of telehealth programs on the mental health of women with breast cancer: A systematic review.

The purpose of this systematic review is to determine the evidence-based information and results about the effectiveness of telehealth programs on the mental health of women with breast cancer. The research process was carried out using PRISMA guidelines. Randomized controlled trials with available abstract and full text, which were published in English with the keywords "telehealth," "telemedicine," "web-based therapy," "telepsychiatry," "online therapy" and "breast cancer" in Pub Med, PsycINFO, Medline, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Sciences and Cochrane databases between 2015-2019 were searced.
