Issues of regeneration of the cornea, which is the most vulnerable structure of the eyeball, suffering from various diseases and injuries, burns, when wearing contact lenses and glaucoma, are highly relevant for ophthalmologists. It is also necessary to minimize damage and stimulate corneal epithelization during and after the use of steroidal and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antibacterial drugs and antiseptics, which have a cytotoxic effect and often inhibit regeneration processes, potentially even leading to the development of corneal epithelial defects. This review analyzes the effectiveness of a promising drug 5% dexpanthenol in terms of improving the reparative processes and the function of epithelial cells.

There have been long recognized the effects of the bacterial culture suspension (BCS) as a therapeutic means eliciting decreased exudation during inflammation, wound healing, tissue regeneration, and stimulated immunity. Here, based on recent findings related to innate and adaptive immune cells, we set out to present mechanisms accounting for some effects coupled to commensal bacteria, particularly inactivated BCS, which are important for understanding pathogenesis-related action of drug Posterisan and Posterisan forte, and outline their broad application in therapy of hemorrhoids.

The extracellular matrix of the bacterial biofilms was shown to contain extracellular DNA carrying the antibiotic resistance markers. The action of the enzyme complex resulted in lower frequency of the antibiotic resistance genes transfer in mixed bacterial biofilms.

The clinical investigation included 48 patients with acute adhesive intestinal obstruction resulting from appendectomy and an analysis of the cytokine status in 34 children with acute phlegmonous appendicitis. The patients were divided into two groups: a "polyenzyme" group and a "monoenzyme" group (Hyaluronidase). In the "polyenzyme" group the children were given the preparation Wobenzym in addition to the complex therapy, in the "monoenzyme" group--electrophoresis of Hyaluronidase.

The enzymes were shown to inhibit the biofilm formation. When applilied to the formed associations, the enzymes potentiated the effect of antibiotics on the bacteria located in them.
