The Application of Ejaculate-Based Shotgun Proteomics for Male Infertility Screening.

Problems with the male reproductive system are of both medical and social significance. As a rule, spermatozoa and seminal plasma proteomes are investigated separately to assess sperm quality. The current study aimed to compare ejaculate proteomes with spermatozoa and seminal plasma protein profiles regarding the identification of proteins related to fertility scores.

Ribosomal, Telomere, and Mitochondrial Repeat Copy Number Variations in Female Genomes during Ovarian Stimulation and the Prediction of Fertilization Outcome: A Pilot Study.

Introduction: Individual risk assessment of assisted reproductive technologies is essential for personalized treatment strategies. Genetic and genomic indicators of the response to stress by cells could provide individual prognostic indicators for fertilization (IVF) success. Such indicators include the copy number of ribosomal genes (rDNA), which modulates the level of protein synthesis, and the abundance of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), which provides the cell with energy, while the content of telomere repeats (TRs) indicate the biological age.

Protocol for Increasing the Sensitivity of MS-Based Protein Detection in Human Chorionic Villi.

An important step in the proteomic analysis of missing proteins is the use of a wide range of tissues, optimal extraction, and the processing of protein material in order to ensure the highest sensitivity in downstream protein detection. This work describes a purification protocol for identifying low-abundance proteins in human chorionic villi using the proposed "1DE-gel concentration" method. This involves the removal of SDS in a short electrophoresis run in a stacking gel without protein separation.

The level of apoptosis is increased during pregnancy. Dying cells emit DNA that remains in blood circulation and is known as cell-free DNA (cfDNA). The concentration of cfDNA can reflect the level of cell death.

[Current methods of diagnosis and treatment of prostatitis].

The experience of treatment of 29 patients with chronic prostatitis was summarized. The cellular and humoral immunity normalization, the remedial prophylaxis of complications were promoted by the homeopathic method application.

[Cytochemical indices of glycogen content in neutrophil granulocytes in peripheral blood among the patients with prostatitis].

The lowering of a glycogen content in neutrophils of blood was noted while examination of 34 patients with an acute prostatitis. Application of homeopathic treatment had promoted prophylaxis of such a disorder.

[Homeopathic therapy of chronic prostatitis in participants of the Chernobyl AES accident clean-up].

An accident on the Chernobyl Atomic Power Station (CHAPS) caused unprecedented ecological catastrophe and the problems of studying of the ionizing radiation action on human organism appeared. Irradiation causes occurrence of local reactions in prostatic gland. The efficacy of complex homeopathic remedies produced by firm "Heel" is established in the treatment of chronic prostatitis in participants of an accident liquidation on the CHAPS.

[Experimental validation of the efficacy of laser-magnetic therapy for chronic placental insufficiency].

A new pathogenetically based non-medicamentous method for correction of uteroplacental bloodflow disturbances has been developed on the model of chronic placental insufficiency in rats. A single 5 min laser-magnetic exposure on day 21 of normal pregnancy resulted in a vasodilating effect with reduction of the peripheral resistance in the uterine horn vessels and with improvement of their blood supply. A new LAMA laser magneto-therapeutic device was employed.

[Surgical tactics in perforated stomach and duodenal ulcers].

The results of treatment of 410 patients with a perforated gastric and duodenal ulcer were summarized. A dependence of lethality and type of the operation performed on time elapsing from the moment of perforation, presence of concomitant diseases is shown.

[Possibility of predicting intrauterine fetal growth retardation by a single ultrasonic examination (using varying standards)].

The paper deals with early prediction of fetal growth retardation and its severity in a newborn from single ultrasound fetal biometric findings (biparietal head size, chest and belly diameters) at week 20 of pregnancy. The prediction was made by employing the developed varying standards for these parameters as percentile curves and tables. A stepwise prediction of fetal growth retardation was proposed for obstetric in- and outpatient settings, which was presented as an IBM personal computer dialogue program.

[Pylorus-reconstructing operations in complicated gastric and duodenal ulcer].

The results of treatment of 185 patients with complicated gastric and duodenal ulcer disease have been analysed. The results of operative treatment in 132 patients followed up for the period of from 1 to 7 years were studied. In gastric ulcer, resection of the stomach with preservation of the pyloric sphincter, or its reconstruction by means of the flaps taken from the antrum, is indicated; in duodenal ulcer--vagotomy, ulcer excision added by pylorus-preserving and pylorus-reconstructing methods of drainage operations.

[The use of ketamine in cesarean section].

During cesarean section and basal nitrous oxide anesthesia ketamine was given to 31 parturients in an intravenous, drop fashion at a rate of 2 mg/kg/min concurrently with atropine, pipolphen, and droperidol premedication. The objective monitoring of anesthesia by using electroencephalography and blood adrenaline, noradrenaline, and cortisol levels showed that ketamine added to the complex of anesthetics provided a good analgesia and caused no drug-induced fetal depression.
