The male-specific lethal complex (MSL), which consists of five proteins and two non-coding roX RNAs, is involved in the transcriptional enhancement of X-linked genes to compensate for the sex chromosome monosomy in XY males compared with XX females. The MSL1 and MSL2 proteins form the heterotetrameric core of the MSL complex and are critical for the specific recruitment of the complex to the high-affinity 'entry' sites (HAS) on the X chromosome. In this study, we demonstrated that the N-terminal region of MSL1 is critical for stability and functions of MSL1.

In Drosophila, a group of zinc finger architectural proteins recruits the CP190 protein to the chromatin, an interaction that is essential for the functional activity of promoters and insulators. In this study, we describe a new architectural C2H2 protein called Madf and Zinc-Finger Protein 1 (Mzfp1) that interacts with CP190. Mzfp1 has an unusual structure that includes six C2H2 domains organized in a C-terminal cluster and two tandem MADF domains.

The Polybromo-associated BAF (BRG1- or BRM-associated factors) (PBAF) chromatin-remodeling complex is essential for transcription in mammalian cells. In this study, we describe a novel variant of the PBAF complex from differentiated neuronal cells, called dcPBAF, that differs from the canonical PBAF existing in proliferating neuroblasts. We describe that in differentiated adult neurons, a specific subunit of PBAF, PHF10, is replaced by a PHF10 isoform that lacks N- and C-terminal domains (called PHF10D).

Clinical features, hemodynamics and quality of life of elderly patients with a combination of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and arterial hypertension were assessed. The results of the study suggest that in the case of a combination of arterial hypertension and chronic lung disease, not only distinct clinical, functional and hemodynamic changes are observed, but also a significant decrease in the quality of life, largely determined by the severity of the symptoms of both diseases, as well as the severity of the comorbid pathology. The revealed changes in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and arterial hypertension dictate the need to optimize, first of all, the outpatient stage of observation and rehabilitation of elderly patients with comorbid pathology.

The PBAF complex, a member of SWI/SNF family of chromatin remodelers, plays an essential role in transcriptional regulation. We revealed a disease progression associated elevation of PHF10 subunit of PBAF in clinical melanoma samples. In melanoma cell lines, PHF10 interacts with MYC and facilitates the recruitment of PBAF complex to target gene promoters, therefore, augmenting MYC transcriptional activation of genes involved in the cell cycle progression.

We investigate dilation-induced surface deformations in a discontinuous shear thickening (DST) suspension to determine the relationship between dilation and stresses in DST. Video is taken at two observation points on the surface of the suspension in a rheometer while shear and normal stresses are measured. A roughened surface of the suspension is observed as particles poke through the liquid-air interface, an indication of dilation in a suspension.
