Is Bitcoin Still a King? Relationships between Prices, Volatility and Liquidity of Cryptocurrencies during the Pandemic.

We try to establish the commonalities and leadership in the cryptocurrency markets by examining the mutual information and lead-lag relationships between Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies from January 2019 to June 2021. We examine the transfer entropy between volatility and liquidity of seven highly capitalized cryptocurrencies in order to determine the potential direction of information flow. We find that cryptocurrencies are strongly interrelated in returns and volatility but less in liquidity.

Pulmonary Apical Cap as a Potential Risk Factor for Pleuroparenchymal Fibroelastosis.

Pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis (PPFE) is a progressive and frequently fatal interstitial lung disease that involves the upper lobes. Although its cause remains unknown, the histopathologic evidence underlying PPFE bears striking resemblance to that of the pulmonary apical cap (PAC), a relatively common and benign entity. We describe the case of a patient with PAC that evolved into distinctly asymmetric PPFE over 6 years after unilateral surgical lung injury.

The effects of long-acting bronchodilators on total mortality in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the 4th leading cause of mortality worldwide. Long-acting bronchodilators are considered first line therapies for patients with COPD but their effects on mortality are not well known. We performed a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the effects of long-acting bronchodilators on total mortality in stable COPD.

Interaction between founder effect and selection during biological invasion in an aquatic plant.

Long-distance colonization and rapid range expansion associated with biological invasion may have major evolutionary consequences via both stochastic processes and selection. Using large-scale population genetic surveys, we demonstrate a major shift in the relative frequency of sexually fertile diploid versus sexually sterile triploid populations associated with the invasion of North America by a clonal aquatic plant, Butomus umbellatus. Most populations across the native European range were triploid (84% of 108), whereas most introduced populations were diploid (71% of 136).

Alloxan stimulation and subsequent inhibition of insulin release from in situ perfused rat pancreas.

In the performed experiment the effect of alloxan on insulin secretion by in situ perfused rat pancreas was determined. It was found that alloxan added to the perfusion medium results in a sudden, short-term release of insulin. This effect is independent on the presence of glucose (6.
