Objective: Methods of cognitive measurements in multiple sclerosis (MS) are not standardized. We aimed to identify the prevalence of cognitive domain-specific impairment (DSI) in MS by using subtests of the Brief Repeatable Battery of Neuropsychological Tests (BRB-N) with analyzing different cutoff values.
Methods: The systematic review and meta-analysis were registered on PROSPERO (ID: CRD42021287004).
This paper describes the mechanical properties and microstructure of commercially pure titanium (Grade 2) processed with Conform severe plastic deformation (SPD) and rotary swaging techniques. This technology enables ultrafine-grained to nanocrystalline wires to be produced in a continuous process. A comprehensive description is given of those properties which should enable straightforward implementation of the material in medical applications.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwin roll casting (TRC), with a relatively fast solidification rate, is an excellent production method with promising potential for producing wrought semi or final Mg alloy products that can often suffer from poor formability. We investigate in this study the effect of the TRC method and the subsequent heat treatment on the microstructure and deformation mechanisms in Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd alloy deformed at room temperature using the in-situ neutron diffraction and acoustic emission techniques and ex-situ texture measurement and microscopy, respectively. Although a higher work hardening is observed in the rolling direction due to the more intensive <>-type dislocation activity, the difference in the mechanical properties of the specimens deformed in the RD and TD directions is small in the as-rolled condition.

Colloid silicon carbide nanoparticles were examined by varying their size, size distribution, and surface chemistry, and we found that surface moieties show no effect on the individual particles but dramatically affect the collective photocatalytic efficiency of the system.

Low-modulus biomedical beta titanium alloys often suffer from low strength which limits their use as load-bearing orthopaedic implants. In this study, twelve different Ti-Nb-Zr-Ta based alloys alloyed with Fe, Si and O additions were prepared by arc melting and hot forging. The lowest elastic modulus (65GPa) was achieved in the benchmark TNTZ alloy consisting only of pure β phase with low stability due to the 'proximity' to the β to α'' martensitic transformation.

The basic spectroscopic (absorption and phosphorescence spectra) and photophysical (quantum yields and excited state energies) properties were established, and the key kinetic parameters were determined by the laser flash photolysis transient absorption technique. The rate coefficients of both the primary and secondary photoreduction reaction show remarkable dependence on ring substitution.
