The new species is distinguished from its congeners by the following combination of characters: scales and pelvic fins absent; lateral line configuration mediolateral; dorsal fin origin associated with vertebrae 79 with no free predorsal pterygiophores; vertebrae 2728 + 5759 = 8587; dorsal-fin rays 7880, anal-fin rays 5862; pectoral fin rays 1315.
