Background: ONWARDS 6 compared the efficacy and safety of once-weekly subcutaneous insulin icodec (icodec) and once-daily insulin degludec (degludec) in adults with type 1 diabetes.
Methods: This 52-week (26-week main phase plus a 26-week safety extension), randomised, open-label, treat-to-target, phase 3a trial was done at 99 sites across 12 countries. Adults with type 1 diabetes (glycated haemoglobin [HbA] <10·0% [86 mmol/mol]) were randomly assigned (1:1) to once-weekly icodec or once-daily degludec, both in combination with insulin aspart (two or more daily injections).
The introduction of molecular methods into the diagnostics of central nervous system (CNS) tumours and the subsequent deciphering of their molecular heterogeneity has resulted in a significant impact on paediatric neurooncology. Particularly in the field of rare embryonal and sarcomatous CNS tumours, novel tumour types have been delineated and introduced in the recent 5th edition of the WHO classification of CNS tumours. The rarity and novelty of these tumour types result in diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.

Methods: A follow-up study of 5985 healthcare workers from Denmark was conducted between November 2020 and April 2021 and provided day-to-day information on COVID-19 contacts. SARS-CoV-2 infection was defined by the first positive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test ever.
Background: There is strong observational evidence that respirators are highly effective in protecting the users from being infected with Middle East respiratory syndrome and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV), but the evidence for SARS-CoV-2 during daily work is limited. This study utilized a subset of healthcare workers' temporary use of a new brand respirator with frequent defects when caring for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients to assess the protective effect of regular respirators against SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Methods: We retrospectively followed 463 participants wearing a regular respirator and 168 wearing the new brand respirator day-by-day when caring for COVID-19 patients until testing polymerase chain reaction positive for SARS-CoV-2 between 27th December 2020 and 14th January 2021.
Background: Pathophysiological overlaps exist between diabetes and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and presence of diabetes increases the risk of POAG. Considering that diabetic retinopathy (DR) is an ocular complication of diabetes, one could speculate that DR as a severity measure may associate with or even predict POAG. Given that POAG is asymptomatic in early stages, an association to DR may prove clinically important and facilitate an earlier diagnosis of POAG.

We screened 90 patients suspected of inherited thrombocytopenia for variants in 101 genes associated with inherited bleeding disorders and report the clinical presentation of two Danish families with novel variants in IKZF5. Platelet ultrastructure and cytoskeleton were evaluated by immunofluorescent microscopy (IF) and found to be highly abnormal, demonstrating severe disturbances of distribution and expression of non-muscular myosin, filamin, β-tubulin and α tubulin.

Research Design And Methods: This multicenter, double-blind, treat-to-target trial randomized participants to faster aspart ( = 546) or IAsp ( = 545). All available information, regardless of treatment discontinuation or use of ancillary treatment, was used for evaluation of effect.
We describe clonal shifts in isolates from clinical samples obtained from patients in Denmark from 2015 to the first quarter (Q1) of 2019. During Q1 2019, the vancomycin-variable enterococci (VVE) ST1421-CT1134 became the most dominant clone and has spread to all five regions in Denmark. Among 174 isolates with or vanA/ genes in Q1 2019, 44% belonged to this type.

We aimed to improve physicians' knowledge, prescribing practices and perceptions and attitudes towards antibiotics, and to achieve changes in behaviour. Methods: We collected information on the perceived aware-ness and usefulness of the guidelines using a ques-tionnaire distributed at two regional hospitals. Furthermore, to evaluate the use of the guidelines, we collected data about 310 patients treated with antimicrobials at the two hospitals.
The aim of this study was to develop an audit tool with a built-in database using Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap®) as part of an antimicrobial stewardship program at a regional hospital in the Central Denmark Region, and to analyse the need, if any, to involve more than one expert in the evaluation of cases of antimicrobial treatment, and the level of agreement among the experts. Patients treated with systemic antimicrobials in the period from 1 September 2015 to 31 August 2016 were included, in total 722 cases. Data were collected retrospectively and entered manually.

Methods: During 2005-14, all clinical VRE isolates were tested for the presence of vanA/B/C genes by PCR.

Setting: Population-based study using health registers in Denmark.
Participants: We identified all 677 021 singletons born in Denmark from 1997 to 2008 and linked the Apgar score from the Medical Birth Register with information on the women's prescriptions for AEDs during pregnancy from the Danish Register of Medicinal Product Statistics.
Background: Antipsychotic medications are increasingly used during pregnancy. Nevertheless, fetal risks are still not fully studied. It is currently unclear whether the antipsychotic treatment might induce a higher risk of fetal death.
