Various techniques for treating tricuspid regurgitation have been described; however, because of scarce data about the long-term outcomes of different repairs, the optimal technique has not been established. We evaluated the effectiveness and durability of artificial neochordae implantation in the treatment of tricuspid regurgitation. From 2009 through 2014, 507 patients underwent tricuspid valve repair at our institution.

Objective: We investigate the protective and therapeutic effects of ozone therapy (OT) in radiotherapy (RT)-induced testicular damage.

Methods: Thirty healthy adult male Wistar rats divided into five groups consisting of six animals each as follows: (1) Control (C), (2) RT, (3) OT, (4) OT + RT, and (5) RT + OT group. Histopathological findings, Johnsen scores, thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS), glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) levels were evaluated.

A Review of the Exclusion Technique as a Mode of Surgical Repair in the Treatment of Aortoiliac Aneurysms with Spontaneous Arteriovenous Fistulas.

Patients who have aortoiliac aneurysms with arteriovenous fistulas are difficult to treat. The traditional mode of surgical repair based on aneurysmal excision, fistula closure and graft inclusion has been associated with high perioperative mortality. As an alternative the exclusion technique has also been utilized.

A Rare Complication of Tuberculosis: Acute Paraplegia.

Background: Tuberculous radiculomyelitis(TBRM) is one of the complications of neurological tuberculosis and includes cases of arachnoiditis, intradural spinal tuberculoma or granuloma, and spinal cord complications of tuberculous meningitis (TBM). Here, we report a case of TBRM which presented with acute paraplegia.

Case Details: Neurological examination on admission revealed flaccid paralysis, bilateral extensor plantar responses, and exaggerated deep tendon reflexes.

Association between nutritional status and Modic classification in degenerative disc disease.

[Purpose] This study was conducted to examine the association between Modic classification and the eating habits in patients with degenerative disc disease (DDD) and to determine the influence of nutrition on disease severity. [Subjects and Methods] Sixty patients with DDD visiting a low back pain outpatient clinic were enrolled. Through face-to-face interviews, they completed questionnaires regarding their demographics, disease activity, smoking and alcohol use, concomitant diseases, disease duration, and nutritional status.

Long-Term Results of Pericardial Autologous Patch Enlargement of the Aortic Annulus Using the Manouguian Technique.

Background: The management of a small aortic root at the time of aortic valve replacement is controversial. In cases in which the aortic root is very small the choice of aortic valve type and of root-enlargement method is difficult. Evaluation of the effectiveness of home based or hospital based calisthenic exercises in patients with ankylosing spondylitis.

The aim of this workshop was to determine the current status on prevention, screening, early diagnosis and treatment of cancer in our country, to identify related shortcomings, specify solutions and to share these with health system operators, and to aid in implementation of these systems.

Plasma homocysteine, folate and vitamin B12 levels in patients with lung cancer.

Aim: Disorders in the metabolism of homocysteine and B vitamins, which are involved in a one-carbon transfer reaction and important for DNA synthesis and methylation, have been hypothesized to be associated with carcinogenesis. The purpose of this study is to evalu-ate the levels of homocysteine, vitamin B12 and folic acid in patients with newly diagnosed lung cancer and determines whether they might be used as an accurate tumor marker for monitoring the patients if they are found to be elevated in lung cancer.

Palliative Vitamin C Application in Patients with Radiotherapy-Resistant Bone Metastases: A Retrospective Study.

The aim of this study was to observe effects of ascorbic acid application on pain, performance status, and survival time in cancer patients. A retrospective cohort of 39 patients with bone metastases treated with radiotherapy was identified. All patients were radiotherapy-resistant.

A Pilot Study of Self-Reported Physical Activity and Eating Habits in Turkish Cancer Patients Under Chemotherapy.

As in all individuals, improving the quality of life, balanced nutrition and physical activity habits must be acquired in cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to determine eating habits and physical activity of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. Sixty-six patients were completed the questionnaire included sociodemographic data, type of cancer, anthropometric measurements (size and body weight), dietary and physical activity habits.

Embedded Left Anterior Descending Artery During Coronary Bypass Operations: A 15-year Experience.

Background: Revascularisation of the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) is the most important part of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) operations. We analysed the results of CABG in patients with embedded LADs compared to age and gender-matched controls.

Methods: Among 4,102 patients undergoing primary on-pump CABG from January, 1999, through April, 2014, 92 had embedded LADs.

Mitral valve surgery using video-assisted right minithoracotomy and deep hypothermic perfusion in patients with previous cardiac operations.

Background: Redo-sternotomy for mitral valve (MV) surgery may be complex and attendant complications can be avoided using anterolateral right thoracotomy, deep hypothermia (20°C, nasopharyngeal) with low flow cardiopulmonary perfusion. Video-assisted minithoracotomy technique is a further improvement.

Methods: We performed 20 consecutive MV operations in patients with previous cardiac surgery using video-assisted right minithoracotomy, femoro-femoral bypass, deep hypothermia, low flow cardiopulmonary bypass without aortic cross-clamping.
